A Song For My Son On His Wedding Day

I have to tell the story of how I found out about this song.
I was sitting on a bus on my way to work and I over heard two ladies talking about a special song for the mother groom wedding dance. I didn't mean to listen in to their conversation but the night before my wife was crying her eyes out because she said there was no special song for her wedding dance with my son.
(the wedding was just a month away).
After listening to the conversation for a few minutes I had to ask the ladies what they were talking about. I explained what my wife was going through. Those nice ladies told me that they were talking about "A Song For My Son" They said it is the first song that was ever written for mothers and grooms and every mom who hears it loves it.
I asked them how I could get the song and they promised to bring the informaiton to the bus stop the next day. And they did.
I surprised my wife with this CD just a few days before the wedding and I wish I could bottle the happiness on her face when she heard it. All I can say is this song made the difference. It gave us all a moment that will be in our hearts forever.

It's too bad that Amazon.com doesn't provide song clips for independent lables. This is a really nice song, but to hear it, you have to do what I did and go to new-wedding-traditions.com.

I first heard this song on the Today Show and I remember that day I said to myself this song is going to be a big hit with mother's of grooms. I knew that because I am a DJ  and worked over the years at hundreds of weddings and moms always asked for a special song for their mother gr
oom dance. Until this song I really had nothing special to suggest. It's been a while since I first heard this song on The Today Show and just as I thought it has become  hugely popular with mothers of grooms.

The only problem I ran into was that there are now a few other versions of this song floating around out there that are not the original.  This one is the original and this is the one you will want to get because the quality and singers and sound are excellent. I highly recommend this CD for any Mom whose son is getting married -but if you are getting the single be sure to get the CD with both the country and traditional versions on it which is the one here on amazon.com-

After listening to this song a few days before my son's wedding, I had memorized it so that I could truly tell him how I felt on that day. It was very moving and even the DJ said he could see how very special my feelings were for my son as we were dancing our "special dance". It helped me to tell him all the things I couldn't find the words for. Thank you so much!

I purchased this single CD for my dance with my son on his up-comng wedding, July 7, 2001. Before I even heard the end of the first lyrics I was in tears. I know there is no way that I will be able to keep from crying when we have our dance together on his wedding day! I would suggest that any mother having a son getting married order this CD. It contains all the feelings and words that any loving mother would have for her son.We also have two daughters with weddings coming up, so we ordered two CDs, "A Song For My Daughter On Her Wedding Day". It is also a must!!

I got married last year and this was the song my mom wanted for our mother groom dance.
I will tell you why that moment is so important to me.
Mom had diabetes and because of it she had to have a leg removed.
Eventhough she was in a lot of pain she was determined to learn to use a prosthesis so she could dance with me to this song (she called it her song) at my wedding.
On my wedding day we danced and I huged her like I never huged my mom before.
That moment is more important to me than I could ever say because my mom recently passed away.
Now this song (I will always call it my moms song) will always remind me of a happy day when my mom smiled through her tears and we danced .

I attended two weddings recently and BOTH mothers danced with their sons to this song. One even found it at Amazon.com. I married off two sons 13 and 15 years ago but this song totally cracked me up. I was a dish of melted butter at the end, each time. There is no better song for your son!

My youngest son was recently married, and he selected this song for our dance at his wedding reception. I had never heard it before. It said so many of the things I wanted to say to him but couldn't through my tears. It was deeply moving for both of us, and that dance will always be a treasured memory. Many thanks to Mikki!

We were so lucky to find the New Traditions wedding album for my son's wedding. When we danced to "A Song For My Son", we both felt that the words were written just for us! Surely the songwriter is a mom herself? To all prospective brides and grooms-BUY THIS MUSIC! It made the wedding so personal and special and an event to cherish all the more.
