Truly unbelievable! Too good to be true.,

This review is from: Song of Time (Magic) (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this novel to one of the best Magic: The Gathering books that I've read. I was addicted to the book the first time through. It has a lot of action that makes the reader want to keep on reading. I think the storyline was well developed and this created a magnificant story. At the end of the novel, I was a bit disappointed because it was "to be continued." I felt that it was just getting interesting. Anyway, still a great book. Really looking forward to the sequel.

There Is No (Printed) Sequal.,

I quote this post from the Wizards Online Community Forums:
"Yup. Unfortunately, story is unfinished. Back then, WotC told Teri to stop writting the rest of trilogy because they were going to start new novels (Rath and Storm, Brothers War). Anyways, Teri already finished second book of that trilogy - it was never printed though. I know that her friend (storyline guru back in these days), Jeff Lee read it. It's a shame that they just dropped it in the half way... The same goes for Planeswalkers War comics." There you go. I too read this book. The story was good but I wish I could know how everything works out.

Great Book, but...,
This review is from: Song of Time (Magic) (Mass Market Paperback)
I just read this book, since lately I have a lot of free time to read. And this book, like many of the other Magic books, was great. But they way it ended just left me hanging. Was a sequel to this book ever written, cause I can't find any information about it anywhere. There are so many questions left unanswered and so many things left unfinished. If there isn't a sequel, i'm going to be very dissappointed. So was one ever written? Can anyone tell me?

Superb. Pure Excellence. This book has it all. Mystery, suspense, talent, humor, irony(If you've read the book you know what I mean). The characters are more dynamic and lively than I've seen in many books. I started it and wondered how it could ever be finished in the amount pages. I've gone to the bookstore on a regular basis ever since I finished it, hoping the sequel will be sitting on the shelf. Nice job Teri.

If you are reading this, that means that you have at least a slight interest in this book. Now go with your inital feeling and buy it, it's the best book that i've ever read. The characters are extremely unique, and you should read it even if you don't like the Magic card game, as it has only basic ties to the game (to a non-player they won't even be noticed). A real page turner.

One of the better books that I have read in the last year. Better for more high-strung Sci-Fi fanatics. Wildly imaginative and extremely good detail about the cockatrice and many of the other characters in the novel

Teri Mclaren truly outdid herself with Song of Time. It was the BEST book in the sci-fi arena I read that year, and I hope her sequel is just as good

I think this is the best book I have ever read. I hope that anyone who has even the smallest taste for good books reads this. I just wish there was a sequel. If anyone knows if a sequal was printed and if it wasn't printed does anyone know when it will be, e-mail me. I have been on a personel quest for 3 years to find the sequel to this book. It really is the best.

While this is the first of a two part episode, it works well as a stand alone story. I was hesitant to read it at first because I prefer to read sequential novels all at the same time, since many of this type are one long story split across several books. However, I was pleasantly supprised to find that this novel reached a logical conclusion at the end. The sequel may use the same characters and setting, but it does not detract from the completeness of the first book. I was very impressed with the richness of the characters and the vivid description of the civilization in which the story takes place. The plot was also very well thought out and all in all the book was a very enjoyable read. I would also highly recommend Teri's first book, "The Cursed Land"

Song of Time takes place a couple of thousand years after the brother's war, when most of the happenings of that time have been forgotten or thought of as legend. Cheyne, an archaeologist, finds himself in the middle of serious trouble involving magic set in place by the warring brothers, in the form of a cockatrice, that could devastate his world. His birthright is such that he holds the key to preventing catastrophe and much of the book is taken up with his discovering such.
Nothing really special here, but this book has a bit more of an epic feel than the other MTG books, taking place over a long period of time and having fairly well-developed heroes and villains. Og the Songmage is particularly interesting, even though his story is never fully revealed. WARNING: The book ends with a "to be continued" and I'm not sure if there was ever a sequel published or not... Although much of the plot is wrapped up in this novel, you're still left hanging in a number of ways. |
