Editorial Reviews

Review

Blend together the best romantic Arthurian writers like Lady Mary Stewart in her Merlin series; Katherine Neville like she writes in The Eight, and add the mystique of a Lynn Andrews and you have a fantastic stay in your seat writer. --Romantic Times Review

For history buffs, this book is a MUST! For the ones who love Historical Romances (that do not make the reader want to shake both the main characters for stupidity) Song Of The White Swan is a KEEPER! --Huntress Book Reviews

I found this story to be very unique:... I've never read a story quite like this, if you are looking for something different give this a try. --Listmania-Graham Douglas Lincoln

From the Author

When John Cabot arrived on the shores of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 1497, he was greeted by native people anxious to trade with the white men from across the sea. Many of the native people did not survive the Europeans invasion of the 16th century, but the Mi'kmaq, the People of Nova Scotia had a friendly relationship with the French well into the 1700's. One wonders how the Mi'kmaq came to be so well prepared and what kind of leader they possessed who had the ability to guide them safely into the new Era of their homeland. One also wonders what drove the Europeans to seek the New World. Historians say it was riches and gold. Perhaps there were other things more precious that made men cross the uncharted waters.

More About the Author

Aleta is a searcher, a seer and a writer. Fantasy, suspense and historical fiction are her portals to other worlds. A student of earth based traditions, she blends her beliefs into what she calls The Nature Path. She honors Mother Moon, Mother Nature and the Goddess (in all forms). Her love for animals has led her to rescue them, whether they need it or not. They total twenty or so cats, two dogs and one horse companion, Medicine Man.

For the past twenty-five years, she has been studying healing, New Age and Native American philosophy and comparative religions. Her research led her to write, Song of the White Swan, a novel about two people from widely different cultures, a Druid Priestess and a Micmac Shaman, who find a common bond; the strength of their faith and their love for one another.

A newly completed novel, Beneath The Crescent Moon, is a contemporary suspense set in post-Katrina New Orleans surrounding a magical pendant, spirit guides and a woman's foray into the realms of Voudoo and the supernatural.

Her heroic fantasy, Septerra: Forgotten Worlds, (a novel in progress) follows a female mystic warrior on a quest to save her shape shifting planet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fiction or history?, May 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
This is a well written book about the possible historical events around the time of the discovery of Nova Scotia by French explorers, possibly Knights Templar. Well researched by the author, into the lives and religion of ancient people along with a good romance of a native and a Breton Priestess. Travel with the author from Brittany to Nova Scotia....I am looking forward to the opportunity to visit both in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchantingly Seductive, October 7, 2000

Aleta Boudreaux, "Enchantress of the Written Word", ensnares the reader quickly. "Song of the White Swan" intoxicates and mezmerizes all who dare to turn the page. This adventure, drew me in, making me more a participant than a voyeur. Aleta's attention to acute detail in herbology, mysticism and history makes the reader wonder if "Song of the White Swan" is really fiction or ..... an episdode of the writer's previous life (unrealized).

4.0 out of 5 stars The history of France and the New World come together!, April 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
Antoinette Charboneau was a young Druid priestess and advisor to the future Queen of France. She was sent on a mission for her Lady, by ship, disguised as boy. The ship, however, has a mission of its own and does not go to the expected place. The Queen's mission is impossible to fulfill. Soon her secrets are discovered by the Captain, but kept safe from the crew. Mutiny erupts. Before the Captain escapes his prison Anotinette had been whipped. Unsure if he will succeed in retaking his ship, he sets her adrift in a lifeboat.

Bear calls Antoinette by another name. He is the tribe's shaman. The Goddess has sent sent White Swan to him to teach him more ways of magic. They recognize the healers in each other and slowly learn each other's languages. Treachery is afoot among the tribes as well and a short battle of magic begins.

The destiny of France was brought into the hands of Bear and White Swan when an unexpected ship arrived. It was now up to them to destroy the ship for the future of not only France, but of the New World.

***This story begins in 1491 and follows the life of a Priestess. Her Goddess and the Christian's God test her as she fights for her life, her love, and her country. Aleta Boudreaux has succeeded in bringing together the history of France with the early years of the New World. For history buffs, this book is a MUST! For the ones who love Historical Romances (that do not make the reader want to shake both the main characters for stupidity) Song Of The White Swan is a KEEPER!***
