5.0 out of 5 stars Enchantingly Seductive
Aleta Boudreaux, "Enchantress of the Written Word", ensnares the reader quickly. "Song of the White Swan" intoxicates and mezmerizes all who dare to turn the page. This adventure, drew me in, making me more a participant than a voyeur. Aleta's attention to acute detail in herbology, mysticism and history makes the reader wonder if "Song of the...

3.0 out of 5 stars I took a chance on a new genre
I was very impressed with the author's knowledge about the time, and the unique approach to her characters. However, I could just have easily stopped reading the book at the half way point and never wondered how it ended. I can tell the author put a lot of research and time into the book and I applaud her for that effort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fiction or history?, May 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
This is a well written book about the possible historical events around the time of the discovery of Nova Scotia by French explorers, possibly Knights Templar. Well researched by the author, into the lives and religion of ancient people along with a good romance of a native and a Breton Priestess. Travel with the author from Brittany to Nova Scotia....I am looking forward to the opportunity to visit both in the near future.

This adventure, drew me in, making me more a participant than a voyeur. Aleta's attention to acute detail in herbology, mysticism and history makes the reader wonder if "Song of the White Swan" is really fiction or ..... an episdode of the writer's previous life (unrealized).

4.0 out of 5 stars The history of France and the New World come together!, April 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
Antoinette Charboneau was a young Druid priestess and advisor to the future Queen of France. She was sent on a mission for her Lady, by ship, disguised as boy. The ship, however, has a mission of its own and does not go to the expected place. The Queen's mission is impossible to fulfill. Soon her secrets are discovered by the Captain, but kept safe from the crew. Mutiny erupts. Before the Captain escapes his prison Anotinette had been whipped. Unsure if he will succeed in retaking his ship, he sets her adrift in a lifeboat.

Bear calls Antoinette by another name. He is the tribe's shaman. The Goddess has sent sent White Swan to him to teach him more ways of magic. They recognize the healers in each other and slowly learn each other's languages. Treachery is afoot among the tribes as well and a short battle of magic begins.

The destiny of France was brought into the hands of Bear and White Swan when an unexpected ship arrived. It was now up to them to destroy the ship for the future of not only France, but of the New World.

***This story begins in 1491 and follows the life of a Priestess. Her Goddess and the Christian's God test her as she fights for her life, her love, and her country. Aleta Boudreaux has succeeded in bringing together the history of France with the early years of the New World. For history buffs, this book is a MUST! For the ones who love Historical Romances (that do not make the reader want to shake both the main characters for stupidity) Song Of The White Swan is a KEEPER!***

5.0 out of 5 stars BEFORE the DA VINCI CODE, April 9, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
the Knights Templars were in charge of the terrible secret. In Song of the White Swan, the author takes us on a journey to Nova Scotia where the Templars wanted to make a stronghold in the New World. This is the story of a druid priestess who is linked to the Knights Templar and the Grail secret in a mysterious way. Set in 1491, Da Vinci doesn't appear in this story, but the Druid priestess, Antoinette, is the Queen of France's consul. Da Vinci designed the Queen's palaces. The link is there and Aleta Boudreaux promises to explore it in her next book.

I'm interested in the Knights Templar and I wasn't sure if I'd like a book about Druids and Native American Shamans as well, but this book tied everything together in a fascinating way. A little bit of history and a lot of good writing.

"I especially loved her descriptions of the physical manifestations of the Powers called upon by Bear [the Micmac Shaman], and Swan [the Druid Priestess]. If only my imagination could do justice to the wonderous effects of their magic. ~ Linda Henry - The Beltane Papers Review

5.0 out of 5 stars "...a can't-put-down novel that intrigues and captivates..., October 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
The heroine of the wonderful new book, Song of the White Swan,is a member of the Sisterhood of the Moon and a priestess of the GreatGoddess in 15th Century France, when the Catholic Church regarded such as heathens and pagans. This, then, is the backdrop that artist, author and metaphysician Aleta Boudreaux has painted for her well-written novel.

Ms. Boudreaux has fashioned and blended the best elements of a historical romance novel with magic, metaphysics, non-stop action and suspense. Add to this the Knights Templar and a secret mission! In this reviewer's opinion, Song of the White Swan has best-seller written all over it, and should be made into a major motion picture, it's that good! If you read only one novel this year, it should be Song of the White Swan!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Page-Turning Adventure, October 12, 2000
By
"fournerat" (Atlanta, GA (USA)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Song of the White Swan (Paperback)
Ever so often a book is published that has the potential power to change hearts and minds...SONG OF THE WHITE SWAN is one such book. Prior to my knowledge of novelist Aleta Boudreaux, I sensed the oneness of this universe we all call home. And now, having journied with her characters, experiencing their joys and trials in this page-turner saga, I am indeed convinced of our capacity to, and the necessity of, living as one on Mother Earth and in the Spirit Realms. In the blink of an eye it seemed to take to reach the end of my reading-such was my desire to know the ending-what I was anticipating as an end to the story dawned on me as merely a beginning; sequels are a must! Those who wish to connect with the future, as well as the present, must Re-Member with the past and SONG OF THE WHITE SWAN is a great place to start.
