Since he stopped recording with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Bizzy Bone has led a hectic release schedule, releasing solo albums, group albums, underground releases, mixtapes, and side projects every three months or so. With Layzie Bone and his former group having similar schedules, buying Bone-related releases has practically become a monthly activity for fans such as myself. "A Song For You" is his best album in a while, though. It's clear that there is more budget and effort behind this release than his past independent albums, because there are high profile guest appearances and the production is much cleaner. Much of "A Song For You" showcases Bizzy at his finest, and reminds me why Bizzy Bone has always appealed to me so much. Many of the songs are motivational, inspirational, and insightfully spiritual. He is frequently personal and emotional, but also balances these songs with some harder streets-oriented tracks. The beats are effective, smooth, and polished, and tehse piano-laced, contemplative beats are the kind Bizzy shines over. Longtime fans should note that "A Song For You" contains no dark or mystical material like he recorded earlier in his career. While some of his verses are underwhelming and he does have a few missteps, his unique singing voice and ability to use so many different flows is impressive here, and overall "A Song For You" is a huge step in the right direction, an LP that should win back skeptic fans.

The LP opens with the deep title track, a nice DMX & Chris Notez collabo. The beat is classy and appealing, with piano and acoustic guitar, and an inspired performance from all three parties. "I'm the One" is an okay rock song with Good Charlotte's Joel Madden. I love "Muddy Waters," which has Bizzy at his sentimental best. Over slow and contemplative production, Bizzy tells sad tales in a second-person narrative but provides hope to the listener. "Money" is unimaginative, but Twista provides an ever-impressive guest verse. The dramatic, emotional "What Have I Learned" is great, as is the sunny "Mercy Mary," where he happily and thankfully praises the virgin mother in triple-tongue rhymes. "I Truly Believe" continues the spiritual vibe with another catchy, polished track. Jim Jones' unlikely guest contributes to the fine "Ballin'," and the nostalgic yearning of "I Need You" is reminiscent of doo-wop, lyrically and musically. The good "Hard Times" precedes the great "Memories," where he talks about the Bone Thugs situation and gives more religious insight. The disc closes with the excellent "Real (Freestyle)" and the outro.

Bizzy has let down some fans recently with underfunded releases, but "A Song For You" is a level above any of his recent solo albums. Here, I again see the Bizzy who has inspired me so much over years past. Although it's not a perfect album by any means, and he doesn't do any music like he's never done before, he does the type of songs he is best at, and in that it is quite enjoyable. Bizzy Bone is a one-of-a-kind artist, and those fans of his past work before he began releasing albums by the truckload should love this. What I'd really like to see is instead of pumping out albums by the month with a few great tracks and some filler, Bizzy actually take the time to make the classic album we know he's capable of. Until then, "A Song For You" is a keeper.

I was completely floored when I heard this cd. From beginning to end Bizzy pours his emotions into this album. The beats are awesome...the lyrics are strong and make you really wanna listen to hear what he has to say...the messages are DEEP. I can play this cd from beginning to end with out skipping any tracks. He's done well for himself after leaving Bone. He isn't afraid to speak on his spirituality and praises the Lord at least one time on each track. I am truly impressed by this album. Please support it honestly and truthfully.

I knew this was going to be quality but whether or not it was going to be good was question. I myself was surprised by the level of maturity in the album. Sound and content. It still has a couple of good ol' thug songs in it but Bizzy sacrifices the mainstream antics here and makes it for from and for the heart. This rivals Heavenz Movie in terms of quality. All though I feel The Gift held the most emotion and just purity this one just holds itself well. I honestly see that Bizzy has found his niche and perfected his style. After Bone Thugs released Strength and Loyalty I was very interested to see what Bizzy had to give with a larger label. Well these guys need to reunite soon for at least one more before hip hop completely drowns itself and drags down the living legends with it. Please support this album. Respectful, honest and REAL music.

bizzy bones a song for you is problay the best most recent album that he has put out since "the gift" with the songs "memories","a song for you ft. dmx","real" and muddy waters to me makes it worth buying just for them songs not to metion help suport these artist instead of downloading the album of the net

With a solid debut in "Heaven'z Movie" and decent 2nd album, "The Gift", Bizzy Bone left the group and went throguh his time, he put out a few sub-par releases ("Alpha & Omega" & "Speaking in Tongues"), which made me pass up on some of his other albums ("Midwest Cowboy", "Trials & Tribulations", "Thugz Revenge" and "Ruthless"). After he came back strong with 3 collabo-albums with Layzie Bone I decided to check this one out, and WOW was I blown away, This is his best album (better than his 4.5 star "Heaven'z Movie") and is solid from start to finish. With 12 songs, you get 2 classics, 1 ok song, the other 9 are good, most being real good songs. Guests are minimal, rapping on 3 songs and doing the hook on a few others. Production is great as well. F. Romero does 8 songs, Mr. Lee, dead Executives, and A. Jones each do 1 song. A must have album and one that will make me go back and check out some of his that I passed up.

Alright, I am gonna update the review that I wrote upon Bizzy's new release "A Song for You" just recently dropped in stores a couple of weeks ago. In the last review, I touhced on that Bizzy has dropped many albums since his departure from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony in 2005; some have been mediocre and some albums have shown glimpses of shine, i.e. Midwest Cowboy & Ruthless & Trials & Tribulations. However, fans all can agree with me when I about to say this -- these albums were superb because of decent production while the others were crappy cuz the production did not compliment the rhyming abilities of Bizzy.

"A Song for You" tends to bring it back to his first two strong albums "Heaven'z Movie" & "The Gift". However, his lyrical ability, speed, harmony & concepts all have changed for the better and have been perfected as time went by. Each track brings something to the table and brings the album to the top:

1. A Song for You - A beautiful song with the help of DMX & a new comer, Chris Notez; deep emotional lyrics with Notez' singing the hook & bridge.

2. I'm the One - A hard but catchy track with Joel Madden from Good Charolette while his brother Benji playes the background guitar. Great lyrics from Bizzy. A good single if possible...

3. Muddy Waters - A deep and personal track, in which he touched up upon his experience of his tirbulant times with Bone & other trials & tribulations that many people can relate to.

4. Money - A strong single that features Twista and a heavy production that just fuels the track. Catchy for anybody and could be a club song...

5. What Have I Learned - Another personal song that Bizzy excels lyrically and shows his range. Production is remarkable and something coming out of left field for Bizzy to rhyme on...nastolgic memories for Heaven'z Movie.

6. Mercy Mary - A spiritual record with a blues-rooted instrumental and a good harmonize Bizzy & ranging his speed for rhyming...sometimes at parts were too fast for someone to sing along but enjoyful.

7. I Truel Believe - Similar to "Mercy Mary", another spiritual record that is more like an R&B-style instrumental with more harmonizing from Bizzy...

8. Ballin' - Like the earlier tracks, another good club banger with an unlikely guest appearance from Jim Jones with a Houston-style production, you know the chopped & screwed style of Houston. It is unlikely combination cuz of Bizzy's speed meshing with Jim Jones' slow style...but nevertheless a good record.

9. I Need You - This is by far the most remarkable record with some doo-wop sampling, singing and harmonizing from background vocals and Bizzy. Bizzy opens up and discuss his wanting his back his family while a good piano plays behind him; something that the 'ol Bizzy would have not done in the past. Good risk taking.

10. Hard Times - Its a catchy instrumental with Bizzy rhyming and reminising times with his family, friends & Bone while Chris Notez shows his range of singing. Still don't know who the other rapper is on the track (maybe Capo R.I.P.)...Another great track that grew on me.

11. Memories - A slower track but another great production & Bizzy slows up his pace and rhymes a great rhyme of his love towards his people that help him pave the way to where he is...Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. The only downfall of the track is the commentary, maybe if they cleaned it up it would be great. Other than that, great track.

12. Real - A freestyle from Bizzy and shows his range but its the ok record on the album...

Overall, I have to give it a five star than a four star cuz the album grew on me. Bizzy should gain back the respect and reputation that he deserves. Hopefully he found his nitch and stick with it. Go out and pick up this album & you won't be disappointed.

This album reminds me of heaven'z movie, but much better.

This was ok but i wish he did more aggressive tracks like Bizzy used to do. Still good if your a Biz fan though he has mad skills.

I dont have all, but I have most of Bizzys many solo albums. This is hands down my favorite. The album is solid from start to finish. It seems like there was more time and possibly money put into making this album than some of his others. The production and audio quality is good. And Bizzy is on top of his game as far as rapping and singing. The lightening quick flow that was missing for a while is back on this album. So if you are a Bizzy fan, even if you were disappointed with some of this previous albums (or newer ones!), I recommend A Song For You. His best solo work.

Still in sept 2010 I think this is still bizzys best album the beats are nice lyrics are on point and bizzy's voice is as good on this as on any other of his solo albums If you like any of his solo releases you'll agree this deserves 5 stars
his rock album is good too
