5.0 out of 5 stars Great Documentary.....Now
In light of the reviews posted on this site, I would like to start with, "calm down everyone, the sync has be corrected".

I purchased this DBD February 2004 and was not dissapointed. The previous "out of sync problem" has definitely been corrected.

I love this walk down the memory lane of Leon Russell's career. It is a MUST for every Leon fan...

1.0 out of 5 stars Did anybody see this DVD before "reviewing" it?
I'm writing this on July 30th, the day of it's release. I drove 25 miles to Tower Records because they're the only place that had it, and being the Leon fan I am, I HAD to have it today. Of the 25 songs on the DVD, not one shows Leon singing that particular song. "Out-of-sync" doesn't descibe it. All the footage, for every song is footage and clips from...

I love this walk down the memory lane of Leon Russell's career. It is a MUST for every Leon fan and I have been watching it every chance I get. This is an exceptional compilation of clips spanning his entire career, on stage, in the studio and at home.

My only criticism would be that the narration occasionally steps on the beginning of a clip, as in the case of shootout on the plantation.

I hope there is enough material for another Leon DVD.

All the footage, for every song is footage and clips from different, unrelated performances. The most annoying thing I've ever seen. This is so awful I returned it to Tower immediately, and they were kind enough to take care of me. I believe this will damage Leon's reputation, as anyone who cares enough to purchase it will be sorely disappointed. I'm keeping my name anonymous, as I've met Leon many times, he will recognize my name, and don't want him to be angry with me in case he is sanctioning this, yet I now believe after watching this DVD that it's probably not an authorized product. I should have known something was wrong, when at the beginning of the program they were flashing Leon's many credits, and across the screen came the words: "Roll Away The Stone" was recorded by Mott The Hoople. THAT is a different "Roll Away The Stone", NOT Leon's song! Beware of this DVD, for a Leon fan, it's not going to be something you're going to want to own. I'd have given it 0 stars if that had been a choice.

1.0 out of 5 stars ThIs Is Worst Music Documentary EVER, July 30, 2002
This review is from: A Song for You (DVD)
DON'T EVEN CONSIDER BUYING THIS TRAVESTY. I collect music documentaries extensively and I have seen both great and terrible videos. This is in a class by itself. Yes, all the songs are there -- in audio. The video NEVER matches the audio and there is no live footage where the video matches the audio. The inane commentary might be interesting but the only person who never sings audibly on camera is LEON RUSSELL. It is as if they bought the video rights without audio and audio rights without matching video. You would be better listening to the music and ignoring the video. At least then the commentary would not have to be put up with. This is a [copy] of an artist who deserves better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horribly out of sync, January 5, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Song for You (DVD)
Not sure if it is a bad press or if they are all this way but the audio and video is horribly out of sync where the audio sometimes is not the same song as the video. The seller offered to refund upon return but it was a christmas gift to my mother and just wanted to replace it so not sure if it is a bad production or just a bad disk.

5.0 out of 5 stars This DVD is being recalled, August 2, 2002
This review is from: A Song for You (DVD)
The manufacturer is recalling this DVD because of the sync error. A corrected version will be available in a few weeks. Contact your place of purchase for a refund or exchange. This DVD was released in Australia and the UK a couple of months ago. Friends of mine there raved about it. Highly recommended to any Leon fan or those that want to learn more about the Master of Space and Time.
