I purchased this bat house because I was about to evict a good number of bats from my attic. The fact that it was approved by the Organization for Bat Conservation was enough for me, and it's worked out well. I installed the bat house during the winter near where the bats were entering my attic. I then put up wire mesh to keep the bats out. When summer arrived, most of the bats moved into their new home. A few somehow found a way into the attic... oh well... it's much easier to clean up after a handful of bats rather than the 30 or so that used to live there.

I've had this bat house for almost 3 years now, and it's held up well. The bats keep coming back so I guess they are happy with it too.

6/2013 update: On year 4 now and the bat house is still in great condition. The bats have returned and each year there seem to be more bats than the previous one.

Extremely well made with pre-drilled holes for mounting. Now I just hope my ad for rent free space in Bat Vacations Magazine attracts customers.

We are fond of bats, but not bats in our attic. We decided to relocate the bats and chose this one because it's design is approved by the OBC. Late at night, when we assumed the bats were out foraging, we put up the bat house and blocked the hole they used to enter the attic. Since we put the house near the blocked hole, we assumed they would simply move into the bat house by morning. Not until almost a year later did bats start showing up in the bat house. From what I've read, it can take as long as two years for bats to move in, so be patient.

Love this house! Durable and great craftmanship. It came with tips on placement outdoors and what color (if needed)- it should be painted to accomodate their preferred habitat. Looking forward to housing many insect eating bats over the years!

This product is made well but it was difficult to hang on a tree. My husband had to rig it up a bit but once it was attached it seems fine. I've read that it can take several years for bats to migrate to a new home, and it's best to have the box in full sun for at least 8 hours, with 20' of clearance so the bats can fall out of it, and it's best to have several houses near each other. We are still waiting for our bats to arrive; however, we hung this up in June and in the NOrtheast, bats migrate around March. We hope next spring they will find a home in our yard.

My husband wanted a Bat House for Fathers Day! I have to admit I thought at first "what the @#@#@#@#" but then I heard his history lesson on bats and all they do (especially mosquito eaters) way to many to choose considering I know nothing about Bat Houses I choose this one mainly because of its approval by the Bat Organization. We hung it on a tall wooden pole that once was home to a Martin House. We did spray it black as suggested. I looks really nice (as far as Bat Houses go) and it was built so well. We both were very pleased. Not sure if any bats have arrived we may have to wait until next year but we both will be waiting.(I have to admit my husband with slightly more joy than I) Love Amazon

We bought this for a friend who has a cabin in the woods and wanted a bat house to attract bats so the mosquito population could be reduced. After doing a lot of reading we choose this bat house mainly because of the amount of bats it can hold and because it is bat organization approved. We felt this was a most important stamp of approval and help the chance of getting them bats in their new house. We hope it will give the the advantage they will need.

I Seems to be well built--cedar wood and screws should help it last. I couldn't have make one for much less than it cost. Wish it was a little bit wider but okay. Hope some bats like it.
