Easy to clean just empty into recycle bins.

This probably would do better under a smaller feeder where there wasn't so much that got dumped at once.

We have a squirrel guard hanging above the feeder and that discourages the squirrels to a great degree.

I love the idea of this product, but unfortunately the product did not perform to my expectations. There are several serious flaws that could be remedied with a sturdier product, however.

First, the materials. The mesh is a light cloth, and the hoop is a very lightweight bendable material. It doesn't have the weight required to hang evenly. The bend that it came with did not go away, so I ended up with a warped product under my feeder. Even a slight wind was enough to blow the thing around and the seeds that have been caught just fall onto the ground... rendering the product pretty useless.

Also, birds hop all over it, using it as a platform feeder. Which in theory doesn't seem bad, but the cloth mesh is so flimsy that the birds' talons and beaks poked several holes in it after only a week of use. This fairly expensive product therefore only lasted one week. I continued to use it, however in week two the squirrels figured out how to jump onto it. I woke up one morning to find a squirrel sitting right on it, chowing on the seed in my "squirrel proof" feeder... the feeder definitely is squirrel proof because the feeder ports close from the weight of the squirrels when they jump on it. By putting one of these things under the feeder, what I did was essentially give the squirrels something to put their weight on while they reached into the ports with their little "hands" and grabbed the seed that way, without having to put any of their weight onto the feeder. FAIL.

I have a much smaller version of this under my thistle feeder, and it works a little better. The thistle gets stuck in the mesh, and the birds use that one as a platform feeder too. The squirrels don't seem interested in that one; perhaps they've tried and it was too small for them to sit on.

We bought two of these because it seems like a good idea as shown in the picture and thinking that this might be the best solution for catching all the seeds that falls to the ground and makes a mess of our grass but unfortunately, because it is so light, even a light wind will blow it and spill the seeds that were collected in this catcher to the ground. Defeats the purpose and a waste of money.

I've owned my SeedHoop for over 2 years now and I love it! I have mine attached to my birdfeeder on my second story deck and it really helps to keep the shells off of the deck and in the hoop! I have small birds and doves. The doves like to hop on the seed hoop to do their feeding and I haven't had any problems with them creating holes in the mesh. It is lightweight so it does blow in the wind a bit. I will bring mine in if there are extremely high winds but otherwise the seed stays in just fine. I have it hanging only an inch or so below the feeder so it doesn't sway as much and the birds are still able to eat the seed that falls in the hoop. All in all it's a great product that the birds love and I do too!

I attached this hoop to the bird seed feeder. It was extremely fast and simple to assemble/attach. This does a great job of catching the seeds before they hit the ground! Which makes it easier to clean up as well as prevent seeds left on the ground to attract rodents. I definitely recommend this item...works for me!

I was hoping that this "hoop" would decrease the mess from birds feeding and it certainly did. Even with house sparrows creating such a mess. Thanks to whomever invented this item. It is flexible and effective. I highly recommend it.

This seed hoop does a wonderful job of catching all the black oil shells from my bird feeder. I live on a balcony, so it's great to keep the mess from falling below to my neighbor's patio. Well made and sturdy....have had no problems with tearing.

I like the product and it does catch the majority of the seed. The birds are able to feed off the seed and it greatly minimizes the seed from collecting on the ground. I live in an area with lots of trees and the best placement for my bird feeder is still within range of the squirrels who were using the catcher as a landing pad to get to the feeder. While I have a squirrel resistant feeder the use of the catcher as a landing defeated the purpose for catching the seed. Before the squirrels figured out their new toy the catcher was doing the job well.

Nothing lasts forever but when this one was getting a little ragged, though it was still quite usable, I got another one. This is a real handy item. It not only helps keep the birdseed from getting all over the place but it allows the ground feeders to get to the feeder and to clean up the seeds the catcher caught. I wish I could remember exactly when I got the first one but I would guess at spring 2012. I left it out all winter so it handled all the cold weather and the snow. The netting itself was still good, no holes even though we had a few squirrels and the straps were still in really good shape. The raggedy part was just the wire showing through a few places where the green fabric tore a little. I'm loving the new one and you will too!
