THis cd is based on Dr. Thompson's brainwave studies and how these patterns affect the mind. This cd uses alpha waves which in the brain causes relaxation and calmness. The songbirds are nice and relaxing, not overwhelming or overbearning. i use this in my preschool classroom to calm the students down and it works. I also use it to sleep with.

I really enjoyed the ocean waves alpha relaxation cd so I thought that I would love this one because the sound of birds outside of my house are really soothing. I thought that the preview sounded nice so I decided to get this one. Unfortunately, there are one or two really obnoxious birds in the recording. I think that it would have been nicer if it was just simple chirps from your garden variety sparrow instead of a variety of exotic and loud parrot type birds. I tried to like it but I havent been able to make it through the entire recording. Its distracting rather than relaxing. I do, however, highly recommend the ocean waves cd. It is especially fantastic when listened to on headphones beacause of the 3d recording technique. You will hear one wave start in one ear and finish in the next ear as if the water is splashing through your head. It is very realistic and relaxing.

On a gloomy, cloudy day this cd will perk you right up. I'm very happy to have it. My cat loves it too--she just sits quietly listening--it's great!
