Well, that's it then. 3 microphones, two chairs, a guitar and a violin.
Recorded in 2002 before Stavin' Chain was a fact.
Some of these songs later found their way on Capps' albums, some are heard here for the first time on CD.
All of them however are worthy of release.
If you're a fan at all of Grayson Capps then get this acoustic document on the double.
It's great!

This CD Songbones was pitched at me with another cd and I deceided to try it, I liked the sound. This is now one of my favorite cds and I will definatly own more of his music soon. I highly reccomend this artist and his work, a unique voice and tempo. He has stories to tell, and a haunting voice to tell them with, Songbones is a very apt title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grayson at his best, December 26, 2011
This review is from: Songbones (Audio CD)
I've had this on my wishlist for some time, and was quite surprised when my loving wife made it one of my Christmas presents. I already had all of his other albums, including Stavin' Chain, and I've seen him many times in person,in New Orleans, Gulfport, THE SHED, and around Daphne . . . but never have I been moved so close to tears as I was in listening to this. There are some songs that haven't appeared on other albums, but listening to his 'standards' done in such a natural setting is totally remarkable. Those who have heard him before really need to listen to this collection. If you haven't, try some of his other releases first . . . you'll love them . . . and then listen to the versions on this CD . . . then you'll truly understand the magic of not only his writing, but his musical performance . . . the depth of his writing is amazing! And Tom's accompaniment is marvelous . . . even better than Skinny Mary . . . but I still love her too . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars The most intimate Grayson Capps recording, January 16, 2010

This CD is the most intimate Grayson Capps recording you can find. If you like subtile singer-songwriter work, with just a voice, a guitar, a violin, and sometimes an harmonica... not totally folk, not classifiable really, but a personal, genuine, right-to-the heart style of music by a genuine guy singing out his feelings through his heart & guts.... No arrogance, no artificial anything, just an athmosphere, a story, often about the simple persons or the simple life he lived in Louisiana, sharing beautiful observations of everyday life and everyday's feelings, but o so special. For the lovers of good, good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great souther blues, stripped down, April 16, 2010

Bought this after seeing Grayson at The Shed in Mississippi, and at Callahan's in Mobile, Alabama. I had to find a way to enjoy his sound and share it with the uninitiated in our group of friends. Just a great disk and indicative of what you get from him in a small intimate venue. Personal faves are "Washboard Lisa" and "Slidell", but they're all good.

Yes I purchased this as a gift for myself, selfish arn't I. I am a fan of Grayson Capps and his type of New Orlands Blues. I have already played/listened to it several times. Loud so the neighbourhood can appreciate it as well.
I thank Amazon for providing me with a means of acquiring the music I enjoy, and find difficult to acquire here in Australia.
Kim
