'Songs About Stuff' Is Songs to make you laugh., August 8, 2010
This review is from: Songs About Stuff (Audio CD)
In the 1990's there weren't really a whole lot of comidic singer/songwriters that didn't rely on funny songs about either sex and/or bathroom humor. I mean, other then "Wierd Al". But when I discoverd Wally Pleasant on my collage rock radio station FM 88.7. I KNEW I was listening to a comical genius who wasn't vulgar in comical song writing. Songs like:That's Evolution, Lost weekend/Las Vagas, I wannabe a pop star, Hippies Lament, and Dead Rock 'N' Roll stars. Dead Rock and Roll Stars is about Wally dreaming dead rock and rock stars coming to his apartment to 'just hang out'. Also many believe in you're not funny if you're not filthy. That just means you're just corny. Well I storngly dissagree. You can be funny without being filthy by writing songs about everyday life that doesn't have to metaphor in sex/toilet. I bought this CD in the summer of 1998 and listened to it a lot. And I also saw Wally Pleasant in concert 2 times. And got to meet and talk to him. He's a really nice guy. And after all, the album is called 'Songs About Stuff'. Especially a song about getting a bad haircut.
