5.0 out of 5 stars Peter Dawson, May 19, 2000
This review is from: Songs & Arias (Audio CD)
Peter Dawson is one of ther greatest singers that music lovers in the United States have never heard of. His entire career was in the UK, New Zealand, and his native land of Australia. He made about 3000 recordings between 1904-1955. This group of recordings from the 1920's and 1930's are among some of his best. Mr. Dawson posessed a huge bass-baritone voice that seemed to improve with age. The selections on this albun, including British Empire martial music, opera arias in English, movie songs, and popular ballads are anong the best collections that I have seen of this great man's work. I highly recommend it. If you have never heard Dawson perform before, take a chance on this CD. You should enjoy it.
