I had the opportunity to hear Miss Davrath sing a collection of these songs when I was young and that experience has stayed with me for 40 years. The late Miss Davrath pioneered these songs before anyone else discovered these delightful classics. She is the only singer that does them with the correct dialect so they just might sound a little different then the incomplete versions by superstar divas. Get these, you won't be sorry even if you have other versions.

This disk is a treasure. Apart from being one of the best performances (along with the more recent release by María Bayo), it is also the most complete. Davrath's light, sweet and agile soprano voice are perfect for the romantic and often flirtatious themes of these lovely songs. Her pronunciation of the difficult Auvergnat language and the French are excellent and her spirited and studied performance is much superiour to those of more famous singers. The digital remastering is superb and much more rich and open than the LP's.

I heard Natania for the first time on a CD collection of various composers sent by a CD club. Netania sang the "Bailero", which is on the first CD in this set. I was captivated by Netania's pleasant voice and intriquing music. I could listen to her for hours, which I have done since receiving the 2-CD album from Amazon.com. The CD plays in my PC anytime I am the computer and online. In addtion, the music is invigorating, pleasant and jovial.

I normally prefer instrumentals recordings, but Netania has found a top place in my collection. I will see what else she has recorded, and no doubt order whatever she has recorded. What a voice!

Davrath's singing of this wonderful collection of songs is barely adequate. Why get this when there are the magical renderings by such artists as Victoria de los Angeles, Kiri Te Kanawa, Dawn Upshaw.
