The cat came back, but the CD didn't,

This review is from: Songs of the Cat (Audio CD)
I used to own this CD, but it has mysteriously vanished. I am buying another copy because I just love the humour and the mix of classical and other music genres. My friends, however, think I'm weird, but that doesn't matter. I think anyone with a sense of humour, a love of classical music and 'middle of the road' and Johnny Cash really needs this CD in their collection. However, be prepared for others to look at you in a slightly different way!

Extremely clever words and music,

This is one of my all-time favourite CD's to play when I want to listen to something fun. Garrison Keillor's trademark humour and creative skill with words is woven seamlessly into Classical music performed by an ensemble of excellent musicians including Frederika von Stade. Like the previous reviewer, my copy ALSO mysteriously vanished and I just purchased my second copy (Siegfried, our cat in residence took it as his personal copy?)

A must have for Cat owners,

I loved this CD since I purchased it when it first came out. I shared the CD with friends who are cat lovers. They all loved it as well. It is an eclectic collection of soulful, fun and wacky. Nothing else matches it for quality and originality and shear fun.
If you can get a copy, grab it with relish.

I have had this CD for ages, having first heard songs from it on NPR & ordered it from the NPR website. It's still in a class by itself. Anyone who has shared their life with a cat (or cats) will love it !

When our now grown children were young, we used to sit around the radio on Saturday evenings listening to Praire Home Companion. We even submitted a birthday greeting for our then 12 year old son and had it read over the air. He was thrilled! Some of our favorite parts of the program were the cat songs. We bought this cd for that same son for a gift, but listened to it before giving it to him. On the whole we were pleased, but we were disappointed that some of our favorite songs were left out. "I Would Like a Cocker Spaniel," was a song we'd hoped for that wasn't there. "Traveling with Cats" was there, and we were pleased to hear it after a gap of many years.

If you like the humour of Garrison Keillor you will love this. There is a good assortment of songs both funny and sad (made me cry). Some of the music to accompany the words is very well known and includes both classical and country ie Johnny Cash.

This is a slightly goofy compilation pairing Garrison Keillor's voice with opera star Flicka von Stade. Very funny.
