the music's fine, but...,

These are fine, if not great, performances of typical renaissance fare. The packaging though is terrible. There are 37 short pieces on the disk but only 10 tracks. The liner notes are just advertising for Collectables Records Corp. It lists the compilation as copyright 2007 but it's obvious the recordings are much older. There's no indication of the mastering but I'd have to guess AAD. The sound is pretty harsh is some passages.

This kind of CD is a shame for any record company. No information about the artist, the instruments or the music. This is not the way to keep the interest of the audience in buying cd's.It is cheap and bad.

Bought as a gift. Gift recipient likes CD since it is his first excursion into Medieval music. This is a great beginner CD for this type of historical exploration of the social customs of the Middle Ages into the Renaissance. Music ties it all together.
