I had this album many years ago & have been waiting for it to come out on CD. Thank goodness someone finally released it on CD! Mr. Bikel is certainly underated from a historical perspective, being that his talents & genius have always deserved much more exposure than they have ever been given during his career as a musician, actor, etc. I think people forget that Theo IS an EXCELLENT guitar player & composer & his collaboration on this album continues his high standard of excellence. This album is a must have for anyone who is a student of popular music in the 20th century. Mr. Bikel is to be commended for his good taste.

How can you beat Theodore Bikel and the Pennywhistlers. The all woman ensemble with the most authentic and enthusiastic sound in folk music with the most versatile musician and actor make for a CD to listen to over and over. An eclectic mix of Eastern European and Western European folk music (including a fun Scottish tune in proper brogue).

This CD is such a lucky find; it has some of the best music I grew up with, and performed featuring Theodore Bikel too! Since my old stuff is all on 78's I thought I'd never hear the beautiful songs again. The Pennywhistlers are a really authentic sounding group and this is a wonderful CD.

This will not be a long review, but I liked this CD very much. Very good choice of songs and beautifully sung.

This album is beautifully reproduced from the original 60's vinyl to CD. The tunes are taken from all over the world with harmonies and energy that is marvelous to hear. The range of emotion is wide and the musicianship superb. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes international music. I was hooked from the first time I heard it.
