My sister is headed for the Grammy's,

When I sat down to listen to this CD I had no idea that I was going to feel a bold and spirtual ache deep in my soul. I felt like I have been through every word and note of this CD. I have known Dawn all of her life and I knew she could sing when she was a young girl. She has been blessed and touched with the ability to put spiritual words together along with music and cause them to cut deep down into your bone marrow. This CD brought me to my knees. I actually cried out with tears streaming down my face as I felt the words from "Come In Out of The Rain". We all have been out there in the world and we needed to known that we're never to far that we can't come home. She says "while the enemy floods your mind with the places you've been". Now that is powerful! I listened to B.C. Bad Girl and I had to go back to the stories of the Bible to relate the women of today to the women of B.C. (Before Christ). Dawn your are totally gifted and I will be there next year when you are in L.A., California accepting your award for New Female Gospel Artist. And to take an old gospel tune, "We Shall Overcome" and put such new flavor to it. My sister you have discovered your God given talent. May you forever be. . . truly and spiritually blessed.

Yo, this sister sings from the heart. I couldn't help thinking as I took in her sensual sounds that she must be singing to me. I bought ten last year as Christmas presents; one for each of my girlfriends :-) On a more serious note this is a must buy. Once you hear the voice of this new and amazing artist you'll want to share it with everyone you know.

If you are a fan of Swing out Sister or Basia you'll love Imani! Her music is both lyrically and melodically pleasing. It makes you think as you sing along because each song has something postive or spiritual to say. I especially love Because of You and I'm going to play it as the first dance song at my wedding in April. I can't think of a more romantic and lovely song to dance with my new husband to. Thanks Imani.

Even if good, sensual, jazzy music isn't your style, this CD is worth buying just to gaze upon the beautiful Imani!! Who is the lucky man she's singing "I Belong to You" to? If the slot is vacant I'd like to apply. If given the chance, I know we could have a "Laissez Faire Love Affair," and even share some "Real Love." Seriously, this is a good cd. The lyrics, melodies, and arrangements are relaxing, inspiring, and delightful to listen to. Sade better get back to work. Her replacement is in the building.

I received Imani's CD for Christmas and I count it as one of my most treasured gifts. Her music is smooth, jazzy, and very funky. If you had to compare,I'd say she's a unique blend of Sade and Basia with Desiree's positive messaging. I find myself listening over and over to the CD because it is so inspirational and uplifting. This work is all about positivity. One of my favorite cuts is Imani interlude. The cut talks about how when you have faith in your vision you can realize your dreams. It really got me thinking positively about the new year. Slow Down also touched a nerve, as its message is about taking time for what's real and important in life. One of the best things about Imani is that she sings about positive love and relationships, especially in the songs I Belong to You and Because of You. She even sings about loving and taking care of the earth in Black Rain. This is a great debut CD and I look forward to her next one. In the meantime, I plan to give this one out as gifts to some of my friends who need a little bit of love, inspiration, and positivity wrapped in beautiful music in their lives.

This album is a refreshing blend of inspirational messages with jazz and rhythm & blues. Imani has successfully combined her Japanese and African-American heritages to produce very upbeat, mellow songs. I have tried to use the album as "white noise" but to no avail, before long I have stopped what I am doing and find myself humming along with Imani. I can not wait for her second album.
