5.0 out of 5 stars "Bluesy & Southern Rock is on", September 9, 2000
This review is from: Songs From the Grass String Ranch (Audio CD)
Audium Records presents, the latest from The Kentucky Headhunters, "Songs From The Grass String Ranch", featuring twelve rocking and moving tunes, non-stop.

Creating a hybrid, bluesy, and southern rock sound, that appeals to country and rock fans alike. Refreshing and original performances from some very talented guys.

Stand outs: "GRASS STRING RANCH", opening track rocks on, down and dirty, "JESSICO", will dance right into your hearts, "LOVE THAT WOMAN", will make your heart go Chitty Bang-Sha Boom, great lyrics, and the beat goes on, "TOO MUCH TO LOSE", one of the best slow-dance tunes, ever written.

So, put on your dancin' shoes, spin this CD, get on the dancefloor, with The Kentucky Headhunters up on the bandstand.

Total Time: 53:17 on 12 Tracks/ Audium Music - D2 88117 (2000)

5.0 out of 5 stars Music veterans, tried and true--county rockers to the core!, June 22, 2004
This review is from: Songs From the Grass String Ranch (Audio CD)
The Kentucky Headhunters are spectacular--that one word describes their sound. They meld country, rock, and blues into a unique molasses that flows into your ears.

The songs on this album stand out as some of their best. "Grass String Ranch," "Louisiana CoCo," and "Rock On" are basically party anthems (the last one with a "live your life with love" type of twist). "Once in a While" offers a brief remiscence, while "Country Life" and "Dry Land Fish" are nice songs about life outside of the city's hustle and bustle. "I Wish I Knew" and "Too Much to Lose" are emotional pleas for help, while "The Dreamin Kind" tells a woman what he's got to offer ain't much. Throw in the mostly-acoustic "Jessico," and you have a classic album guaranteed to please any musical listener.

The Kentucky Headhunters: a great outlaw band, with a great outlaw sound. "Songs From the Grass String Ranch": a great outlaw album with great outlaw songs by a great outlaw band with a terrific outlaw sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars go heads!!, January 28, 2002

This is a different album than previous efforts from the KHs. More ballads that tell of romance, love, and also sorrow and heartache. This from the KHeads? You bet. Back to the Sun, I Wish I Knew, The Dreaming Kind, and Too much to Lose are tunes with well thought out lyrics and great guitar work from Greg Martin. If you long for regular rocking KHs tunes, Jessico, Louisiana Coco, Country Life, and Dry-Land Fish fit the bill nicely. The KHeads have been around a long time and I look forward to their next effort. Great tunes from a great bunch of guys.

4.0 out of 5 stars Saw them live, Can't get enough!, September 25, 2002

First heard their cover of "Spirit In The Sky", which is a five star plus cover, saw them live, met the band, and they are wonderful men, Verrrrrrrrrrrrry masculine, and let me know if you want pictures and I will send you the ofoto link - great harmony, and they know how to react to a crowd, and don't have a set play list. They actually interact with the audience! Highest praises for a formerly unknonw to me band. Hope to see much more of you guys! ~The Erie County Fair's Official Photographer's Mom, Mary

5.0 out of 5 stars Kentucky Krankin!!, January 10, 2006

Opening with a guitar riff more reminicent of a heavy rock anthem, this album goes a crankin'. Turn it up and hang on, this one's got to go loud. This is the album that hooked all my friends onto the Headhunters. Highlights: Title Track & Louisiana CoCo (worth it for these two alone).
