Hank deserves better!,

It is a good cd,don't get me wrong. Some great Hank songs and several good covers. But he deseves so much better than this.Trick Pony should not have done "All My Rowdy Friends" and Aaron Tippon should be ashamed of his cover of "Family Tradition".Travis Tritt should have been on the cd and Kid Rock should have been on here too. I do reccomend the cd to all the true Bocephus fans though.

Hank Tribute is pretty good, but missing a few things. . .,

This album is pretty good but it's not as good as I think Bocephus deserves. A true outlaw and a country rock pioneer Hank has influenced so many artists over the years, but few artists have the same sound and attitute that Hank does. Blake Shelton I think could have covered a better song than "Young Country". Montgomery Gentry did a fine job on covering "Women I've never Had" and Marshall Tucker and Lynyrd Skynyrd did good covers too. The best song I think is "Outlaw Women" by Tracy Lawrence, with a swampy feel to it, gave me goosebumps when I first heard it. What this album is missing is Travis Tritt covering a song.If Hank has influenced anyone in music today, it's him. He has done "Lone Wolf" "Old Habits" and "Whiskey On Ice" in concert and it could have been the best if he was put on the CD. Overall this album is average, but I would only reccomend it to Hank fans.

I'm a longtime Hank Jr. fan, and excitedly ordered this tribute album soon after its release. Overall it's a pretty good CD, but not quite worthy of 5 stars. I've heard Alan Jackson sing "The Blues Man" in concert, and I'm glad it was included here. I agree with previous reviewers that such artists as Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels, Toby Keith, Kid Rock, and Willie Nelson (perhaps Johnny Cash and Brooks and Dunn as well) should have had songs on this CD. I've also heard Tritt sing "Lone Wolf" in concert and thought his version was pretty good. A more appropriate song for Montgomery Gentry would have been "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight," rather than "Women I've Never Had." A different song should have been found for Trick Pony. Aaron Tippin's version of "Family Tradition" sounded decent, but seemed a bit too fast. Another 4 or 5 songs by some of the artists mentioned above (especially Tritt and Daniels) would make this a 5 star CD. For fans of Hank Jr., this CD is a must.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a good cd.But only suggested to true Bocephus fans.Trick Pony should not of done "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" and Aarron Tippon should never have released his version of "Family Tradition".Travis Tritt along with Hank Jr. friend and fan Kid Rock are both missing on this album, and they really should be there. The cd is ok but only suggested for true Bocephus fans.Let's face it after all Hank Jr. has done for us he deserves better than this cd.

.38 Special was rockin'!!,

This is one of my favorite Hank Jr songs, and .38 Special turned up the volume on it! This is one of the only three tracks worth listening to on this album, the other two being Montgomery Gentry's "Women I've never Had," and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Born to Boogie." To me, .38 Special's recording, as well as the original, have a very heavy Stevie Ray Vaughn feel to them, and .38 Special's cut of this song has some awseome Blues-rock guitar solo work in it, and it is therefore a very good example of what I like to call "Roadhouse Blues." And speaking of Stevie Ray Vaughn, I think him or Elvis would also have done a good job singing this song, if they weren't both dead.

For more years than anyone cares to remember, Hank, Jr. couldn't get no respect in and outside of Nashville. His tepid early albums, made in the depths of the late '60s folk/countrypolitan days, were okay, but you had to work at appreciating them. Later, in the 1970s, when he re-emerged as a rockin', rowdy good old boy, things got better, but then that inevitably led to his stick-figure rightwing redneck image, the messy-bearded, Monday Night Football theme-singin,' know-nothing Bubba we've all come to know, and, well... not quite love. These days, it seems Hank, Jr.'s back in fashion, as evidenced by these rowdy, rockin tributes by the likes of Blake Shelton, Montgomery Gentry, Chad Brock, and other would-be good ole boys. Some of these songs are pretty good, but the uptempo tracks by the likes of Trick Pony and Aaron Tippin are a little embarrassing... Hank II did 'em better the first time around, and more often than not these new versions simply echo the least worthy parts of his work. Still, compared with the N'Sync-ish pablum that's coming out of Nashville these days, this disc almost seems like a slab of hard country heaven.

Totally worth the money. I think they could have gotten some other group to do all my rowdy friends are coming over, trick pony did well, but i think a lead males voice would have topped that one off just a bit better. Montgomery Gentry was my fav on here and the coming together of everyone to do outlaws reward was awesome!

There is only one problem with this album and that is that the song "All my rody friends are coming over tonight was covered by-brace yourself-Trick Pony! (AAAAAAAA!!) Who the **** thought that they would be great for that song?! Seriously, I hate it when a girl tries to sing a song that was obvously written for a guy to sing. Instead, they should've gotten somebody like Travis Tritt, Kid Rock, Charlie Daniels, Confederate Railroad, or even George Thorogood to sing that song. Oh, and they sould have included the Bocephus classics "Dixie on my Mind", and "Naked Women and Beer" to this album as well.

I bought it, played it, and before I drove up my driveway it had been tossed out the window (seriously). Don't bother spending your hard earned dollars, this CD is not worth it (putting it mildly). Whoever thought of this project should have gotten fired. Come on, Trick Pony trying to sing "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight!" The classic "Family Tradition" was completely butchered, by God, if you didn't know, it's a drinking song. The only ones that did a commendable job were Tracy Lawrence and Alan Jackson. I'm truely am very really sorry Hank!! Since no one said it, I'll say it for you, "WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE THAT BOY ALONE AND LET HIM SING HIS SONGS."

I think that this CD was very good but the only thing that I disliked was that Trick Pony song All my rowdy friends are coming over tonight. I dislike it because the main singer is a girl and she makes the song sound ...( but that is probably my fav. song by Hank) but other than that its good but its not Hank!
