A friend and I picked this album up, listened and sang to it in the truck. I'm partial to the old time hymns so I smiled when I heard Randy sing these songs in the most traditional fashion (the last 2 songs being the exception....true Alabama style). The instrumental production on this album is simple but that's what I believe it should be. I felt that Alabama's focus was the words and vocal harmony on these old favorite hymns which have a lot to say. My favorite songs on the album is 'In The Garden' and 'Amazing Grace'.

This is a wonderful and very inspirational album. Randy Owen's voice sounds great, even majestic. The songs are great memories for me. The songs are sung the way Randy likely heard them sung growing up in rural Alabama in the 1950's, with soul, spirit, and feeling. The emphasis is on the words and the meaning of the words. There is a minimum of "arrangement" - if your looking for modern Christian rock or even over-arranged horns, you're looking in the wrong place. Tremendous song choices, although I would have liked to have heard Fly Away. Great emotion and a collection I'm listening to over and over. A must have. The song Rain is Randy's original and is tremendous- should be on Radio.

This album has some fifteen songs of inspiration, put together with that great Alabama style. Now, most are hymns, some so beautiful that they will bring a tear to your eye - most notably Rock Of Ages and The Old Rugged Cross. But, there's also a few other songs - Old Shep is a song about a boy's love for his dog, and One Big Heaven and Rain are newer songs of faith.

Overall, I found this to be a very good album. It's just short of great due to the inclusion of Old Shep - I really just don't know what this song is doing in with fourteen Christian songs. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice song, it's just out of place. But, that said, I do love this album, and have gotten hours of pleasure listening to it. I recommend this album to all lovers of that great, old time Christian sound.

Nothing fancy here. Honest renditions. Great hymns. Thus the new Alabama CD. Here are Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook. Not a single drum beat, or single sound for that matter, is heard from drummer Mark Herndon. There is no mention of his name anywhere on the CD liner notes. Under percussion and drums, Eddie Bayers is listed. The CD includes the new Randy Owen penned songs, "Rain" and "One Big Heaven," with "Rain" the standout. Stripped down, simple recordings with Randy in fine form. He sings from the heart and soul. That's a good thing and it makes this recording better with every listen. Alabama with Gospel recording artists The Isaacas and Dr. Ralph Stanley and the new CD "Songs of Inspiration." We'll make it 4 1/2 Stars. Nice work guys. Thank You and God Bless You.

This is a great CD. My father just passed away and we played some of the music at his funeral.

I really like the Alabama music a lot was aspiring to hear a country band producing that great music then the other kind that is out there is great to see this kind music be on the market!!!!!!!!!!!

This album is packed with great sounds of hyms.
Enjoy listening to the songs sung by Alabama.
It has been over 10 years since I purchased an album by Alabama and I am so happy I own this and can play it whenever I want to hear great music.

I've always loved Alabama and I'm so happy they have done an inspirational CD. I love the simplicity of the songs and music.

This album is very good. There is one song however that sounds like it could promote universal salvation. I could be mistaken about this. Any Christian knows(and would not lead others astray) that Jesus is the only way to God the Father. He is the only way to heaven! You cannot get there by being a good person. God gave his Son as the punishment for our sins. We have to accept him as the payment for our sin. If we try to face God outside of Christ, we will face God's judgement. God gave us the free gift of salvation, it's a shame that most people will refuse His grace, and take His judgement instead. All glory to God, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

This is a must have. So enjoyable to listen to. The voices and instruments blended together make such a wonderful unique sound. I guarantee total enjoyment with this CD.
