About the Artist

The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brAHb'ding-näg-EE-en) are The Original Celtic Renaissance duo combining unique instrumentation (autoharp, recorder & mandolin) that'll leave you hungry for more: Celtic drinking songs for breakfast; fantasy, filk and dragon sandwiches for lunch; and an extra helping of JRR Tolkien-esque instrumentals for dinner.

They are one of the most-downloaded independent Celtic bands with over Five Million MP3s downloaded! This success and their entertaining live show make them a favorite of Celtic and Renaissance Festivals despite the fact that they do not have a label.

2.0 out of 5 stars Songs of Ireland, March 17, 2006
This review is from: Songs of Ireland (Irish Folk Songs) (Audio CD)
Was disappointed. Singer over-powered the accompanying music rather than blending with it. Singing voice was not that good. Have heard much better Irish singers. Would not purchase Brobdignagain Bards again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lively, April 30, 2009
This review is from: Songs of Ireland (MP3 Download)
I can't if these songs are traditional or not but they are realistic in a metaphorical sense. I would say that each song has something to teach whether one drinks or not. The lead's voice may be a bit overpowering but I'm sure it is supposed to. Songs of old told a story and the voice and understanding it is the most important aspect of the song.

2.0 out of 5 stars Songs of Ireland (Irish Folk Songs) Brobdingnagian Bards, July 10, 2006

I wanted some authentic Irish folk songs for my elementary music classes. Only two or three titles from this CD will be useful. I was disappointed. However, I did like some of the accompaniments.
