the first & the best,
By ooocarl06 (placentia, california United States) - See all my reviews

very few times can you sum up punk in one CD. Songs of praise foes that perfectly. Monkey and his droogs, inspired from the kubrick film a clockwork orange, do a great job of summing up what punk really means. Punk doesnt mean mohawks and died hair, it means being different, an individual, and having fun doing it. Throughout the CD the vocals are raw and distinctively british, and the guitar and drums are great, while some times a little muffled. If this CD interests you, you may also wanna look up minor threat, the unseen, and the varukers, you won't regret it!

Joker and the Adicted,

Tired of listening to the weak, boring, and untalented groups of the milenneium? Do you dig the pop side punk has to offer? Or do ya' just have a soft spot for a group of blokes decked out in "Clock Work Orange" outfits topped with a lead singer who could double as a Ringling Brother clown? Look no further. Cause the Adicts are that and a lot more. The Adicts were one of the few early punk groups who survived the eighties, and when you hear the tracks England, and Get Adicted, you'll nod your head and understand just why! But those are'nt the only greats on this carousel of crass...The album finishes strong with the tracks, Songs of Praise and Sound of Music. I recommend this album for those lookin' for a cross between the Ramones, Sex Pistols, and The Cure. Or for those of us looking for the finest sound punk has has ever had to offer.

Viva la Songs Of Praise!,
This review is from: Songs of Praise (Audio CD)
With all the "pop- punk" going around today, It's refreshing to know that some good bands out touring, especially this one. When I saw these guys live, I went because my friends were going, and had only previously heard "Viva la Revolution". When these guys played, they blew me away, so I reluctantly picked up this cd, hearing how it was their best. This cd also blew me away.
From start to finish this album is great. Songs like "England", "Get Adicted", and "Viva la Revolution" still sound great after all these years, and Monkey's "Robert Smith having an orgasm" vocals just plain rock. Easily the Adicts best cd, this album was revolutionary for starting "Clockwork punk", a genre carried on by bands like the Lower Class Brats. Bottom line: Essential for fans of punk, especially punk similar to LCB, Buzzcocks and the Ramones.
