OK, so now I am an ENDOite! Not only has the band impressed me with this new CD, the singing is great. There are moments of pure melody, and moments of throat. Most of the CD is nestled comfortably in the middle, which will/can please most. The music is VERY solid thoughout. If you like music straight up, I highly recommend this CD.

Although Far diiferent from "Evolve" this CD is a giant step forward. The music is much more polished, and is just in my opinion a far better CD. Although not as heavy as "Evolve" it gets out of the same old same old pattern that most (Nu-metal) seems to have turned into. You can only scream about the same old garbage for a little while before it gets old. Endo definatly took their sound into a new direction. Yes their are bands that do it better but this is a great disc and is worth every penny paid. Check out tracks 1,3,4,7,8,11 ... prolly some of the better ones.

Like many other rap-metal bands, Endo have shed the rap portion of their act to focus more on pure music. Unlike many of these bands, however, Endo actually have some talent leftover, and the singer Gil Barton has a terrific singing voice. While I do not consider myself to be a fan of rap-metal or of rap music in general in any of its awful incarnations, Endo's first Sony release, "Evolve", was actually a very good album. The music was fairly heavy by nu-metal standards, and the rap portions themselves were mixed well with screaming and normal vocals. Moreover, the songs were actually very good, especially the outstanding track "Suffer", which leans more towards the style of songs on "Songs for the Restless"While there are some heavy moments on "Songs for the Restless", the CD is, for the most part, more straight-forward and moody than "Evolve". The overall change in Endo's sound is sweeping, and they bear very little resemblence to the band of a few years ago. While not as good as "Evolve", "Songs for the Restless" is nevertheless a good hard rock / lite metal CD. 4 stars.

Songs For the Restless--An essential album.Period.,

The only way I can describe this album: Incredible! The band has come a long way since their 1st major release (Evolve) & you can hear it.Pick up EVOLVE if you don't already have it.The songs here on Songs For The Restless demonstrate how music of this genre can be powerful & aggressive yet have substance & depth. There are songs on here that will stick with you for a long time.Gil Bitton's vocals,Zelick's bass,Eli Parker's Guitar,& Joe's Eshkenazi's drumming combine together for a memorable listening experience that will leave you wanting more. That is what music is supposed to do in the 1st place! I also recommend seeing Endo live when they are in your neck of the woods. You won't be disappointed. In short, buy this album now.You won't regret it....

Gil's Voice owns,

Gil Bitton really carries this with his voice, a voice that ranges from soft to edgy to loud and heavy. He really pushes this group. You can tell with the heavy, screaming in 'Clean Sheets and a Dirty Mind' and then slowing it up in 'For You'. This is much better than the trendy emo junk that keeps coming out.

Endo Reinvents Itself For The Better,

This cd is a great album that shows that sometimes change can be a good thing. Gil's vocals create an atmosphere to every song that wasn't there in Evolve. Every song of this cd is different and they all stand out on their own, thats what makes this a dope cd.

"evolve" knocked me to the floor with its intensity and gil's screaming.so when i popped in "sftr" and heard acoustic guitars on "clean sheets", i kinda took a step back.but after hearing gil caress the music with his singing not screaming i was quite impressed.the quality of the music is better, the vocals are better, but the lyrics dont do it for me.but all lyricisms aside, the talent of the band is displayed well on "clean sheets","ruckus","shame", and "remember us".the single "simple lies" does this cd no justice so i suggest you check it out.not bad at all.

For anyone who claims Evolve was a better cd..well you should be hit upside the head. Evolve had a FEW decent tracks, and nothing more..Songs For The Restless on the other hand is straight up rock, everything from acoustic to hard rock with a touch of metal. Not to mention his voice seems to have improved. Not a single bad track. So if you didn't think Evolve was that good check this out it's 10 times better.

step one-Buy endos first album, evolve step two-listen to it, be amazed at just how much pure energy there is there. lets face it, it kicks bum, there are faster bands, there are harder bands, but that album has more energy than almost any album. the screaming fits perfectly, the rapping is well done, even though im not a fan of rap. energy. step three-buy endo's second album, songs for the restless step four-listen to it, and wonder where all the energy went. theres a little bit still there, but to me it sounds like it has been produced out. when will bands learn that sometimes more "musical" isnt always better. this album lacks the energy the first one had. there are a few tracks where some energy appears, but very few. the first track, for a good 3 seconds it seems like its got somewhere to go, but then it goes into more melodic stuff that, to be honest, many many many bands can do better than endo. the energy is gone, which is what makes this album not as good. |
