New twist, October 16, 2007

As with Wishbones and Ship of Dreams, David Knopfler continues to present his compositions in a matured, sophisticated and impressive light. This is particularly true of both lyrical and production values as his work seemed to have stepped up to a new level with the arrival of Wishbones. The new twist here is his decision to include techno-beats to his otherwise rootsy compositions. For the most part, it works, though I would have preferred a more traditional drum presentation. Knopfler continues to be an underappreciated and under-recognized talent. A shame as he is quite gifted.
