This review is from: Songs of the Siren: Irresistible Voices (Audio CD)
If you enjoy world music and female vocalists, you'll find this a really interesting collection. A few of these women are major international stars -- among them the American indie sensation Feist, the Brazilian Bebel Gilberto (daughter of bossa nova founder Joćo Gilberto), the Italian-French Carla Bruni (wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy), and the British neo-soul singers Corinne Bailey Rae and Alice Russell. Many of the recording artists represented are hyphenated lesser-knowns, but they are no less deserving of attention: Lila Downs (Mexican-American), Marta Topferova (Czech-Spanish), Keren Ann (Israeli-Dutch), Ayo (Nigerian-German), and Maria de Barros (Senegalese-Cape-Verdean). The remaining performers include El Perro del Mar (aka Sarah Assbring) from Sweden, Juana Molina from Argentina, Bebe from Spain, Ana Moura from Portugal, Sia from Australia, and the American group Si*Sé (with lead vocals by Carol C).

A complete track listing follows:

1. Water, The - Feist
2. God Knows (You Gotta Give to Get) - El Perro del Mar
3. La Cumbia del Mole - Lila Downs
4. Mean to Me - Alice Russell
5. River Song - Bebel Gilberto
6. Quelqu'un M'a Dit - Carla Bruni
7. Canto del Otono - Marta Topferova
8. Lay Your Head Down - Keren Ann
9. Rio Seco - Juana Molina
10. And It's Supposed to Be Love - Ayo
11. Like a Star - Corinne Bailey Rae
12. Siempre Me Quedara - Bebe
13. Sometimes - Si*Sé
14. Fado de Pessoa - Ana Moura
15. Amor Luz - Maria de Barros
16. Breathe Me - Sia
