An important note: This CD was originally released in 1962. I think that is an asset. It has 14 songs; some new, some traditional and all but one (Diez Niñitos/10 Little Indians)originally written in Spanish. Because it was recorded in the early 60's the music and lyrics are simple, basic and not overdone or too busy for young ears. The singers, both adult and children, speak clearly. It was just what my baby (7 mo.) and I wanted to hear to reinforce her Spanish language acquisition. So many others use translated songs that are great in English but rarely work as well in Spanish. Cri-Cri is nice but not really a sing-along, more of a story telling since there's no chorus and nothing ever repeats. This CD gives us a welcome change from our José Luis Orozco and you can't beat the price.

I purchased this CD for my grandson so that he could learn Spanish since his father was born in Cuba. The baby, at only five or six months of age, responded very positively to the lively songs on this CD. I must admit that I, too, have enjoyed them and keep the CD in my car to cheer me up on long commutes. A friend, who taught Spanish to elementary school children, liked the CD so much, she will be ordering one. There were a number of songs on it that she taught to her classes. It's a very joyful group of songs that catch the child's attention.

I am from South America and came here when I was 5, so very american too. Now that we have a little one, we've decided to promote Spanish and have it as our little girl's primary language. As a result, resources like music and books are crucial. It's been simple to find bi-lingual books, but hard to find good music that has authentic Spanish speakers and rhythms. In my opinion the authenticity of the Spanish accent is important because the child will imitate and repeat what they hear. Why I make a big deal about accent is in this album the first word my daughter picked up was "chiquitito" (very tiny) she says it like a native, and it's crystal clear. In other albums it's a mix of english & spanish and the singers are (no offense) singing in Spanish with an American accent and don't pronounce the words correctly. The instrumentals are authentic Latin American rhythms. I've ordered several CD's of Children Music from amazon and this was the best choice. I stumbled upon this album and since it was just $6 bucks I figured I take a chance (wasted alot of $$ on other albums and have been disappointed) and boy did I find gold! The price was AWESOME, the wide range of songs (Upbeat, lullabies, country) is AWESOME, and my little one (17M) has wiggled in her car seat in approval of the CD. Carpooling 3&4 year olds love the songs too. It's as if your child is in a musical immersion class.

I bought this and 3 other CD's in Spanish for my daughter, who is not latina and has not had any true exposure to Spanish. She absolutely adores this CD more than the others and insists that I play it in the car ALL THE TIME. Since I studied Spanish and got my MA from the Univ. of Puerto Rico, I don't mind one bit! :-) I also love how much the marimba and mallet percussion is used. There is a great blend of fast and slow paced music.

This is great a home product but difficult for use in the classroom since it does not come with printed lyrics. If I had time to to write them down it would be great but i don't so that is the only negative. I would give it 5 stars if it came with lyrics.

I really like all the songs in this CD, but my son doesn't pay much attention to most of the songs as he prefers to hear children singing.

- Canciones clásicas y bien hechas en este disco sinembargo si su niño (a) prefiere voces infantiles como el mio, tomará tiempo para que acepte la música.

My 10 month old son has been listening to this since the day he was born. His eyes just light up now when he hears the start of El Barco Chiquitito. He loves all the songs and I love the folk aspect to the music - no drum machines here. It has taken me a while to figure out most of the lyrics as some songs are quite fast, but I'm slowly getting them down and am happy to pass them on.

Our kids are 3 & 5 and we don't speak Spanish in our home, but I've been wanting to learn along with our kids. When this CD arrived my daughter (age 3) was so excited! She plays it in her room all the time and I can tell she is listening hard to understand the words. What better way to introduce children to a new language than music? We also bought the cd Muévete- Learn Spanish Through Song and Movement and we all love that one as well! Again, I don't speak Spanish (yet), so this has been a fun way to integrade it into our home. We are picking up on words and phrases through the Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1 (Book + CD) method, which has also been great!
