5.0 out of 5 stars each note, chord & silent pause reaches deep inside, June 20, 2001
This review is from: Songs of the Spirit (Audio CD)
This was a high-risk purchase. I'd never heard of the artist before. I just knew I liked piano. I'm so glad I bought it. The pieces are simple, elegant and quiet (sometimes lively, but not noisy - if you get my drift!) but I have never heard piano music played in such a beautiful manner. Robin caresses each note, chord and the silences inbetween - before you know it you are lost in your own private thoughts, dreams and memories. I can't wait to hear her play live.

This music takes you places that are warm & soft. I find myself drifting of into misty forests walking with my husband experiencing the love I only feel when I'm with him. I listen to it when I'm upset and it calms me. I play it for my very ill patients in the ICU and you can see them visable calm, it seems to ease their pain. What a wonderful gift to the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and tender melodies..., September 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Songs of the Spirit (Audio CD)
"Spielberg brings an emotional warmth to her music that will be apparent the minute you begin to listen to her. Yes of course, she has technical mastery of the instrument, but far more important is her ability to coax exceptional tenderness and joy from the imposing majesty of a concert grand. There is an intimate quality to Spielberg's compositions. Strong and tender melodies tug at the heartstrings into vibrating with the sweetest resonance". --New Age Retailer

5.0 out of 5 stars Surreal, January 1, 2004

Oh my Gosh. I won't go into detail of how I heard of Robin Spielberg, but the fact is, I just heard of her for the first time today. And I played the music samples provided by Amazon. I'm floored. This music is beautiful, and *this is the type of music that truly defines what music is and what it's capable of doing to the soul.
I'm going to purchase at least one of her CD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars A collection of meticulous, melodic, and moving songs, July 7, 2003

If you shop at Michaels Stores, you may have noticed hearing tracks from this CD and "Heal of the Hand". I work at one, and they are part of our designated store music. Strangely enough, this was how I came to know and love Robin's music. I listen to it at home, in the car, and of course, at work - and it never gets old or fails to disappoint. These albums have a piece for every mood, and range from the light-hearted to the dark and deep. This music will always find a way to touch you. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Affectional, Virtuous Piano Solos, July 26, 2011

This review is from: Songs of the Spirit (Audio CD)
A pure piano solo album displaying a broad range of styles, melodies, and talents - from warm to cool, light to weighty, allegro to largo, classical to contemporary, affectionate, cheerful, sober, contemplative - it offers the audience a rich experience of melodious piano music that is well suited for quiet listening, piano studying, as well as concert performance. The composer also provided a background note to the composition of each of the thirteen songs, so that a meaningful reflection is possible.

The opening song ' Spirit in this house ' is a playful tone with a mysterious inspiration. ' A song for Jeanie ' is a heartfelt, nostalgic piece written in memory of Robin's grandmother regarding her journey from Russia to America with her son. ' Maneki neko' has an exotic air and a shady Japanese title, inspired after watching her cat at play.

' Accepting grace ' was written with her friend Chris about accepting the unchangeable in life, gracefully sung. ' The promise ' continues the calm and temperate melody with a more earthly tone, celebrating the spirit of union in life. ' The photographer ' furthers this theme with a gentle, relaxing, elegant song for her husband.

The following three pieces are comparably long compositions with a concert style of complexity, all having a distinctive slow and rhythmic movement in the second half. ' The nature of time ' depicts the various experiences of time from tense and terse to intensely quiet and still - another markedly different piece after track three. ' Four o'clock suite ' brings back many graceful melodies with regard to the spring crocus flowers at home. ' Anthem of my heart ' chronicles the history of a heart with a diversity of tone characters - light, warm, carefree, reflective, sober .....

Then, ' Soldiers journey ' takes up the first song on her debut album " Heal of the Hand " (1993) and develops a soft and short variation like a remembrance tune. ' Tree in the breeze ' carries a light-hearted, soothing melody depicting a lovely picture of dancing leaves in a summer breeze. ' Send me a letter ' is another gracious memorial song dedicated to the families of a recent tragic event in her town. The album closes with a hauntingly quiet piece about the silent sound of a still ' Late Night '.

An outstanding work of contemporary solo piano music.
