Good blend of different NA sounds.,

This review is from: Songs of the Spirit (Audio CD)
This compilation is one of my favorites. It has so many of the different kinds of Native American sounds. The purests will love the ancient flute sounds as in the Native Flute Ensemble. Yet there are some modern pieces that include other instruments such as "Son of the Sun" by Canadians Kashtin. I have given this one to friends who are experiencing this kind of music for the first time, so they might select which brand they prefer.

I bought this cd a couple of years ago and was really turned on to Native American Music by it. The compulation of the artist gives a great cross section of music types. Jonne Shenadoah's "Song of Union" (Pigeon Song)is beautiful and worth the price of the cd alone. It is a song about seeking and finding ones soul mate. But add to that Coyote Oldman's "Medicine Flute" in it's haunting beauty and you have a real winner. There are no synthesizers which one usually finds in these cds, but all natural native flute. Another great cut on this cd is "Oweegon" It is an Honoring song sung by Laura Coolidge Satterfield and her mother Priscilla Coolidge. The cd ends with Rita Coolidge singing "Cherokee" which is a vrey fitting end to this beautiful cd. This cut has a gospel influnce.
