SHJ Rocks,
By Max Luebbe (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Songs From Suburbia (Audio CD)
Spring Heeled Jack is a great band that left way too soon. Since disbanding, their horn section has gone on to join legendary acts such as Less than Jake (Pete), Reel Big Fish (Tyler) and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (Chris). This is one of my favorite albums ever. The songs "Jolene", and "Waiting and Watching" are unforgetable, argueablely two of the best ska songs EVER. Buy this album and stand in awe. Not to mension, the rest of the album's no slouch either, MCMLIX and Pop Song won't leave you disapointed.

Music for all rock lovers!,

It shows that SHJ USA really took a lot of time to write their songs. There is a little bit of rock, ska, and soul. "Time" is a great song that you'll want to play at your graduation party with your friends. "Pop Song (Green)" is the most original and different song that I ever heard. It won't be out of your CD player that much. If you like rock, ska, and soul you'll really love Spring Heeled Jack, USA "Songs from Suburbia".

A Good Follow Up To Static World View,
By A Customer
This review is from: Songs From Suburbia (Audio CD)
Spring Heeled Jack continues to impress as their second album "Songs From Suburbia" makes a great sophmore album. The CD even contains a guest appearance by Coolie Ranx of the Pilfers on my personal favorite track, "Man of Tomorrow." The first single of the album, "Jolene" shows a good follow up to the only single off of "Static World View", "Pay Some Dues." Some more great songs are the reggae esque "Makisupa Policeman" and "Mass Appeal Madness." Spring Heeled Jack even finds time to do a cover for an old band Big Mistake in "Pop Song (Green)" "Songs From Suburbia" is a great CD and should be added to any music collection!

Ska with soul!,

As you may or may not know, ska has been flooding the music industry lately, and it seems like one ska band after the other is being thrown at us. But once in a while a band comes out that is worth our time. One of these bands is Spring Heeled Jack, and Songs From Suburbia is the reason why. What makes this band different is the talent, and the gimmick-free music which is especially lacking in a lot of new wave ska bands. The singing and songwriting is amazing, and the horns are good too. Buy this one.

I purchased my copy at the show - and boy did they put on a show! This new CD is more polished than the old - I just worry about them leaving Moon Ska... Anyway - It's at least as good as "Static World View" if you're a ska fan... PICK IT UP!

Well done cd from one of the North East's ska legends. Horns are crisp and tight; even the white kid is good. Seems to be some kind of Spacemen 3 influence over the bass playing; odd. Great credits too.

This is a great CD with a lot of great songs. The lyrics are very unique. The horn section does a fantasic job, and so does the rest of the band does a good job too. Their tunes are very catchy and you will find yourself singing them a lot.

This is a nicely dont LP from a freakin awsome band. Being in the Pacific Northwest, I dont get to see many of the East Coast Ska Bands that are on small labels like Moon Ska NYC and Ignition. But I hope they make it here sometime so I can see em in action, GREAT CD!!!
