5.0 out of 5 stars Appreciate It For What It Is
This is easily one of Bob Schneider's better albums. Not to say that they aren't all great in one way or another, but there is something very special about the haunting, slow drawls in many of these songs. "Wish," is perhaps the saddest and most beautiful song to be released in years, and others such as "Chinatown," have a more upbeat, southern sound. His take on, "Over...

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Acoustic Set
I give this three stars only by comparison to his outstanding discs like Lonelyland, the Galaxy Kings, and anything under the Scabs and Ugly American psuedonyms. Like "I've seen the end of the world...", its got a handful of really good songs (Chinatown, The Other Side, and Version Mary) that show off his talent for really interesting lyrics and a mastery of any style...

I give this three stars only by comparison to his outstanding discs like Lonelyland, the Galaxy Kings, and anything under the Scabs and Ugly American psuedonyms. Like "I've seen the end of the world...", its got a handful of really good songs (Chinatown, The Other Side, and Version Mary) that show off his talent for really interesting lyrics and a mastery of any style that turns his crank at the moment (there isn't one he doesn't excel at) in this case vaguely appalachain folk. This contains my favorite Bob song (of which there's tremendous competition)"Lorina" which he does a fuller live version of with the current band if your lucky enough to have his live Frunk. Oddly, the more tauted cover of "over the rainbow" is one of the weaker tracks. This is a "should have" for any real Bob fan, but not first on the list if you're a beginner.

"Wish," is perhaps the saddest and most beautiful song to be released in years, and others such as "Chinatown," have a more upbeat, southern sound. His take on, "Over the Rainbow," is unique. His voice adds a new depth to the song that even a Judy Garland fan could appreciate. If singer/songwriters are your flavor of choice I would highly recommend you listening to this album. But be warned, his albums all tend to sound pretty different, if you like a little more pop/rock I'd suggest "Lonelyland," and if you like more variations among tracks give, "I'm Good Now," a listen.
