5.0 out of 5 stars superb and pure!, September 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Songs of Turkmenistan (Audio CD)
My native tongue is Farsi, but I am familiar with the music of the Turkmenistan through the Turkmens who reside in the Turkmen Sahra part of Iran. This recording is as touching and emotionally moving as any folkloric music can be. It revived emotions in me that only music this pure could. I was no longer a Farsi-speaking individual listening to this recording, but a Turkman, enjoying and getting carried away with the music, vocals and emotions. One does not have to totally understand the lyrics and poetry (which are works of art all by themselves) to appreciate this most wonderful recording. For those with a deep appreciation for native/folk music, I would highly recommend this album.
