5.0 out of 5 stars truly one for the whole family, December 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Songs for Wiggleworms (Audio CD)
This is an amazing CD for kids because not only do kids love it, but it really does appeal to adults too. (I've heard this claim before with respect to other albums and....call me a music snob, but I have never before found it to hold water. This one, though, really is THAT good.) Don't let the mostly basic song titles fool you, because this is NOT basic kiddie music. Even the old standbys are jazzed up in a cute folksy way that make them seem new and alive - lots of fun. (If this tells you anything, they actually managed to record the Hokey-Pokey in a style that isn't the least bit annoying...truly a miraculous feat!) A nice bonus: many of the songs invite inter-active play (lap play, picking them up, etc.) between adults & their young children. I would recommend this to anyone with preschoolers, especially anyone who was a music fan before having kids & who can't stand listening to chipmunks-style, whiny, high-pitched vocals. Enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets the little feet moving, September 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Songs for Wiggleworms (Audio CD)
It's hard to tell who enjoys this disk more, my 12 month old or me! The songs have an extra groove to them that really get you and your child moving. Songs like "Old MacDonald" and "Wheels on the Bus" make one feel like grabbing a tambourine and dancing around the house. This disk also exposes your little one to counting, different languages, parts of the body , and of course how to really move to the music. The songs move along quickly to keep the short attention span of a child involved. I highly recommend this disk to all parents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs for Parents, April 24, 2001

My 2-year-old son loves this CD. And it is great fun for him to listen to. It is very creative and inventive in its renditions of classic childrens' songs. But the reason I really recommend it to all parents of young children, is that it doesn't become tiresome listening even after repeated playing on a daily basis! Stand-outs are "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider" (with a French version included), "If You're Happy and You Know It" (with such inventive activities as wiggling you ears), "Five Little Monkeys", "Old MacDonald" (it really takes something special to make "Old MacDonald" sound fresh!) and "Hokey Pokey" (during which my son always falls over giggling after trying to "put his belly-button in".)

We saw the other reviews, and thought it could be pretty good. we were wrong, IT'S GREAT. We listen to it with our 2 year old everyday. He's learned a lot of the words in the songs and created his own dances to some. The music is not overly syrupy like a lot of music for toddlers. We love the acoustic guitars. We just ahve one question- when are they going to make another one???!!!???

5.0 out of 5 stars The best out there, August 19, 2003
This review is from: Songs for Wiggleworms (Audio CD)
My son got this CD as a gift from his aunt who is a music teacher. He loves it!!! I've since checked out many other CDs at the libruary with the hope to expand his music taste. BUT .... we always come back to Wiggleworms!!! The minute this CD starts playing he'll start dancing and singing along. As for the many other ones we've check from the library ... they don't even come close!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Raffi, September 5, 2001

The gifted musicians at the Old Town School of Folk Music provide a refreshing variety of rhythms, voices and languages as they perform children's standards. The upbeat arrangements are superb. Songs are performed in English, French and Spanish. The musicians engage the children, referring to them as "wiggleworms". The best children's CD I've purchased for my infant daughter. It wears well. I'd love to purchase more children's CDs from these folks!

My son and I really enjoy this CD. The musicians not only sing the songs without being too sweet but some of the versions are kind of jazzy(i.e. Wheels on the Bus and Three Little Monkeys).

An instant hit for both the parents and the child in our household. I'll be giving this to all my friends for Christmas. The songs actually make me want to participate in song with my child. Good for the inner child!
