Can a comic have a soundtrack?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Songs of Witchblade: Soundtrack to Comic Books (Audio CD)
Apparently, yes!--- And get this-- This one's actually good! I love my Witchblade soundtrack (and like a dope, I bought it at $18.99 SOMEWERE ELSE >tsk-tsk< -SHEESH-)! It best collage of metal, moody, and environmental music I have in my collection. My favorite tracks would have to be seven and eight.... This cd goes great with the comic, but if you haven't read any of the book, then some of the commentary may throw you off. I would suggest if you own this cd, buy the book (though it isn't necessary). If you're a fan of the comic, or metal in general, you will gain full satisfaction of your purchase!

First of all I don't rate music. It's in the heart of the listener. But anyway I have a promotional copy of the album to make note. I love Babes In Toyland, Megadeth (They "remix" a track for the album), Type O Negative (Peter Steele is the "Male Point of View to Kat's fem) It doesn't sound like Babes or Mega, or Type O, But more of a mix of fearful tones in the vein where Type O and Babes meet in the blood stream of inspiration. It's more of an inspired artistic album per say, I extremely enjoy this album. Not to down it though, I'm not sure I'd spend $18 for it at Fye. To make note again Ii don't buy anything from Fye unless it's not cheaper anywhere else. But I think that this is a great peice of work, Kat and co. should be extremely satisfied and proud with the music that they forged into the world.

Needs more work....,

This CD was touted as one that you could match the book to the music...So, where was the syncronisitiy?? I listened to the CD aganst the Witchblade Collected Edition of the Issue #1-8 Storyarc (as they intended due to the literature), and it wasn't even close!! Anyway, that issue aside, this is a very great CD. Many of the acts have great music, and this makes them even more profound. It's a better listen if you have it playing outside of the comics, rather than in tune with the Comics. Most of it is suited as "Gothic" with Heavy Metal and really creepy instrumentals. The Murderess is by far the most disturbing of all, and don't take it literally. A word of caution; The last track extends to a little ditty 2 or so minutes after the song ends.

I first got this cd YEARS ago when it was first released at my very first trip into a comic book store.
I listened to it, and yes it wasn't my normal music i listened to at the time (bubblegummy and r&b since thats all i ever really could find). I fell in love. The vocals on The Murderess, the covers of ooold favorites like I Put A Spell On You, and Witchy Woman, the "story" tidbits, all of it snared me better then anything ever has. Through the years my cds have seen their hardships. Of all the cd's I've ever owned this is one I have gone out of my way to keep a proper hard copy of. And this is one I still too this day listen to atleast once a week without fail. I knew nothing of the comics, and without this cd, I might have never looked at other kinds of music. I have bought this cd seven times now. And I will buy it again. no matter what the price.

This is not bad at all, however, it seems to lack ... I do not know the word I am searching for ... Oomph? Coolness? I listen to it on my computer while I am typing away letters, working, or just playing games. |
