ALL THAT JAZZ, NEW YORK, CABARET, MAYBE THIS TIME, RING THEM BELLS, ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE, WHY CANT A WOMAN BE MORE LIKE A MAN?, GIGI, ON THE SCREET WHERE YOU LIVE, CAMELOT and more, much more.
An intimate evening of music and stories presented in the informal style usually reserved for "insider" parties. Here are the unique performances that writers bring to their own songs, as well as the candid, often touching and sometimes hilarious tales behind the magical world of musical theater.
KANDER & EBB With a special introduction by Liza Minnelli
Composer John Kander at the piano, with lyricist Fred Ebb doing most of the singing, take you on a musical tour of their careers. They perform and talk about songs from Cabaret, Chicago, and other Broadway shows, special material they wrote for major stars, personal favorites and some of the "party songs" written in true Kander & Ebb style, "just for the fun of it."
ALAN JAY LERNER
Master lyricist and librettist Alan Jay Lerner performs his songs and talks about the craft of writing a lyric, the Broadway and Hollywood stars he has worked with and the challenges of bringing My Fair Lady, Gigi, Camelot, Brigadoon and so many other hits to life. This program, which also features the vocal talents of Bobbi Baird, Liz Robertson and David Chaney, provides a rare glimpse into the anatomy of a musical, on stage and screen.
