Songwriter's Notebook is brilliant--in every sense of the word. Laura Wetzler's sharp wit, clever turns of phrase, delightful chord changes, beautiful, rich voice that convey both passion and compassion, and superb composition make each song shine. Many of the songs are so loving and romantic that I feel enveloped by warmth and gentleness, yet there is no mistaking Laura Wetzler's deep strength and power and conviction.

The ballad of "Annie" and "Union Street" demonstrate Laura Wetzler's keen powers of observation and depth of feeling; "A Taste of You" is reminiscent of Sondheim; "Wonder" is a heartfelt journey in song. The music on this CD is so varied and colorful that it demonstrates Laura Wetzler's amazing talent with both melody and words. I recommend Songwriter's Notebook most highly-it's a treasure!
