The fact that these guys can pull off acapella live is incredible. I had the great fortune of hearing this cd when it was released and seeing them live 3 weeks later made me a lifelong fan. The harmonies are rich, the music original, the feeling of performance is deep from the soul.

This is a cd you share with your very best friends and rave about...maybe even loan it out...or not. I have been without for several years and just refound it online.

After you listen to and soak in the experiance of listening to this self titled disc, if you really want to blow your mind, realize one thing..... these guys can do it all live, and do it incredibly. It's almost overwhelming. You won't be disappointed.

this is the album that started it all. Now, scores of dedicated Sonia Dadaites exist, and pack concert halls whenever they perform. This band has something different. They are different kinds of people. They are truly gifted musicians and singers, and as nice of people as you'd ever want to meet. They'll stop and talk, sign autographs, whatever for their fans. They're as beautiful as their music. And there music is something to behold. It gets inside your head, your heart and your soul, and leaves you with the feeling that music should. If you've not heard Sonia Dada, do yourself a favor and give it a listen. You'll never be the same again.

What an awesome CD, I fell in love with the song Lover, Lover and did resarch to find out that Sonia Dada had originally recorded the song. So where else to find a great copy of the CD, but on Amazon.

I first heard this group's music when one of their concerts was on PBS. I was completely fascinated by the varied vocal range of their lead singer, the back-up and blended sounds of the other singers, along with the musical group, that I knew I had to get a CD.
If you're a blues, gospel, and cajun music lover, then this is one group you need to have in your home and car.

After hearing an on air concert carried by WXRT in Chicago, I thought I would try one of their CDs. In a time when I buy a CD and find out it only has one or two good tracks on it, this one is a pleasant surprise. Every track is something different and great to listen to. It remains in my car CD carrier while most of the others are rotated in and out. People I play it for cannot believe that one band recorded this CD, the mix is so eclectic and vibrant.

What a great sound this group has. Really there are two types of songs on this album (as well as "Day at the Beach," their next, equally good album ). There are really tight, vocal harmonies--the kind you might hear men singing in subway stations. And there are extremely funky electric songs. All of them are filled with energy. Funky, soulfull, somtimes funny songs. Terrific album--I'd bet you don't have anything like it.

I listened to this group live when I worked at an outdoor concert at Santa Barbara California's annual Spanish Days celebration 4 or 5 years ago. I'm an older guy, and not much of a follower of any group, but these guys really impressed me. I bought several copies of their first album "Sonia Dada" when it first appeared (I've never done that before or since) and thoroughly enjoy most of the selections on it; I still play it a lot! Regrettably I didn't find their next 2 albums nearly as appealing, but then the reviews posted herein rated them even higher. Try listening, the music is infectious!!!

The CD came in the exact condition it was promised, I would definitely buy from this seller again!!

I bought this album years ago after hearing it on an airplane trip. For some reason I didn't really follow the band after that, but got back into their music in recent years. This album remains one of my favorites, although Test Pattern is right up there - great vocals with a sound that is hard to categorize. I recommend anyone try these albums to get acquainted with the group.

Buy this one and A Day at the Beach. Just do it and get to know these albums and then you can check off two of life's mandatory squares.
