A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sonic 3D Blast (Video Game)
I've rated most Sonic games 5 stars, but this wasn't the best. I got annoyed doing the same thing over and over again in each zone. All your trying to do is get the birds into the rings by breaking Dr. Roboniks robots. If that sounds fun to you, then this may be your game. It wasn't mine.

Flicky + Sonic = 3D Blast,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Sonic 3D Blast is a radical departure from the other classic Sonics. It takes gameplay from the Flicky arcade/Genesis game, and throws Sonic action and great fake 3D into the blender!
There are so many zones in this game that you probably wouldn't have time to finish the game. The bad part about that is that there's no saving or loading, BUT the closest thing to that is the level select. The level select, while it can be accessed by a button code, can also be accessed by cartridge tilting. It's secretive, yeah, but it's the closet thing to a save feature. That's what makes this version superior over the Saturn game: Easy level select access. The Special Stages, while presented in even better fake 3D, are very easy. You have to cross a huge bridge over lava or the Earth, collecting rings and dodging spike bombs. You can probably finish one with over 300 or 200 rings. The main gameplay is about saving Flickies after you kill the Badniks. Then you must toss 'em into a giant ring that lets you go to the next part of the level. Shields are still present. There's the regular shield, the fire shield, and a golden one that lets you use the Homing Attack, a new addition to Sonic games since Sonic Adventure, in which that game and so on lets you use it as a normal attack. Overall, I could have given this 4 stars if I hadn't known about how cartridge tilting accesses the level select. That really helped calm myself. The Flicky/Sonic style action has made a unique twist on the series.

Yes, this game is VERY fun. If you can get it for a cheap price, I don't see WHY you shouldn't get it. It's pretty challenging to beat, but that's just the fun of it. This game is different than the others. When you first see the opening cut-scene in which Sonic is running with flickies, the graphics are so poor, you think the game's going to be one big joke. But that's just the opening, the game's graphics are very clear and great. When you rescue flickies from their badnik cages, they start to follow you, but, if something happens to cut off your line, the flickies spread out and you have to get them to follow you again. The blue ones are the ones that aim for Sonic the most (the smarter ones) the red ones are harder to catch because they go fast, the green ones wonder around stupidly, and the purple ones, I don't know what those do. This game really is a blast, and it provides HOURS of entertainment. When you start playing, you'll get addicted and want to play the whole game through. I say the worst part of the game is all of the boss stages, because they seem so poorly done and they're very easy to complete. This game is amazing and fun, I highly recommend it for all ages.

Colorful landscapes and environments and challenging gameplay makes for a very fun and ambitious game. It's obviously not as must have as Sonics 1 or 2, but is definitely worth owning for a Sonic fan.

It wasn't the best sonic game, it could get a little annoying or boring, but this is still 5 stars! The point of the game is to go through the zones freeing birds known as Flickies I think, that Robotnik has traped in his robots. After you have got all the Flickies, you send them back to thier deminision by putting them through the giant ring, you still face bosses along the way and have a great time exploring the 3D zones!

Graphics 7.5/10 Graphics are good, but, they are not in true 3D, but I will at least accept the way the graphics are due to the fact that the system is not powerful enough to generate true 3D graphics.
Gameplay 5/10 What is the point of this? Where is the real action? You just defeat robots, collect rings, defeat Robotnik, give it a break. Plot 6/10 Ok plot. Robotnik turned all the Flickes into robots, very basic plot. Music 8/10 Very good soundtrack. Sound 7/10 Good sound. Same effects as the other games, but I will accept it. Overall: 6.8/10 It is ok, but I will reccommend Sonic 1, 2, 3 and the Sonic Adventure series, but not this game.

2nd Place for Best Sonic Title,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sonic 3D Blast (Video Game)
Not too many people like this game. Everybody usually gives the opinion that it was a fiasco, because of slower movement than newer Sonic Games, like Sonic R, Adventure, or Adventure 2. This game was also released on the Sega Saturn, and it did much better on there. On the Saturn, it was claimed to be Sonic X-Treme with a name change. The Saturn version included fog/rain/snow effects, an entirely new soundtrack with a much deeper feel(By Richard Jaques), Updated Graphics on levels, and a full-blown Polygonal 3D Recreation of the Sonic 2 Special Stage. This game is overall, only 2nd to Sonic Adventure 2.

The best Saturn Ported Game for the Genesis,

Ok Virtua Fighter 2 was a bad decision, or maybe they didn't know how to scale it down for a 16-bit console, not sure which one it is. Point here is, Sonic 3D Blast has some of the best, maybe the best graphics on a 16 bit system. The movies involve a 3D accelerator card and the gameplay graphics surpass even Donkey Kong country on SNES, this game has a 32 maybe even 64 bit look. This also has the best music of any of the Sonic games for the Genesis anyways, which is amazing because the Genesis was known for having a bad sound card, but the quality and overall structures of the songs on this game are awesome! This is a classic game and one of the best from the Sonic series.

The best Sonic Genesis title ever!
Control:C+(I don't have this, although I have Genesis. It might be hard to control Sonic in this game.) Sound:A+ Music:A+ Graphics:A+(It's not 3D all the way, but I accept it because it's the best they can do, unless it had the SVP chip.)
