5.0 out of 5 stars Sonic is back!
SA2B has to be one of the best games I have ever played. Here's why:

As soon as you play the first level of the Hero storyline (my favorite level), you'll be hooked.

With two storyline's and 180 missions to complete, you won't be done with this game for a while. There's even a secret storyline...

Multiplayer modes are insanely fun. While you can only play with 2...

3.0 out of 5 stars Where did my chao go
The only thing about this game I hate is if your child is playing the game your chao can die. Yes it will disappear and never come back again but if you are lucky it will be reborn.

With two storyline's and 180 missions to complete, you won't be done with this game for a while. There's even a secret storyline...

Multiplayer modes are insanely fun. While you can only play with 2 players at a time, the amount of fun you get makes up for it. There are many Multiplayer modes: Action Race, Robot Battle, Treasure hunt, Chao racing, Chao Karate, and Kart racing.

There are some pretty original ideas. You can grind down rails and slide down city streets on a snowboard while pulling crazy tricks off ramps.

The music in this game is unbeatable.

The storyline is very good, offering suspense, action, and even a few touching moments.

You can raise adorable little creatures called chao. You can even transfer chao from Sonic Advance into your chao garden.

BUY SONIC ADVENTURE 2 BATTLE NOW!!!

This game is Awesome! I never thought I'd be playing Sonic on a Nintendo console but he seems right at home on the fantastic Gamecube! I haven't played the Dreamcast version so I can't compare the two but the graphics for this version are amazing! there is so much detail and it's soooooo fast! When you start your main game you have the choice of playing the hero side with Sonic and friends or the dark side with Shadow and co. this makes the main game even more interesting. The multiplayer is also allot of fun there are seven mimi games three of which have to be unlocked (I'm still trying to get the last one) my favourite is racing down the city streets it's a blast literally!
This is one of the must have titles along with Smash Bros. Melee for the Gamecube. Like it predecessors it's a classic already.

4.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS WAY BEYOND AWESOME!!!!!!!!!, October 18, 2002

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is one of the best Gamecube games ever. I got it about 2 months ago AND I'M HOOKED ON IT!!!! It's so good, I just broke my wrist and STILL playing it. Heck, I'm gonna go play it after I write this review. If your a gamer who likes high speed games, you'll love it. If you like a great plot, you'll love it. If you want a slow and easy game, you'll love the chao raising system. Of course you will have to go through the levels to get the items requiered (My spelling is horrible...) to do it. The Battle system isn't all it is cracked up to be. Each one lasts about 30 seconds. Unless you're doing a race battle which takes about 2 minutes. The hero and dark story is a nice twist on the gaming world. Save the world, or destroy it? (man my fingers are starting to hurt from typing...) The bottem line is...it's worth every penny. If you say this review wasn't helpful, well it should of been. If you say yes, I'll write a beginning walkthrough to get you started-and hooked-on Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's got something for everyone!, August 2, 2002
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
Sonic the Hedgehog used to be a huge hit for the Sega system. Now that Sega isn't a competitor any more, the GameCube has picked up this star and expanded its gameplay.

First, for normal gameplay, you now get to choose from a good or bad team instead of just one character. Each team is made up of 3 individual characters. You can be the "good guys" - Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Or you can choose to be the "bad guys" - Dr. Eggman, Shadow, and Rouge.

Each team through stages in their own path, and the end result of each path comes together. The stages are fun to play, as the various characters have their own styles of missions and quests.

In addition, there is also a multiplayer fighting mode. You can do an Action Race battle where four sonic-like characters (each with their own strengths and weaknesses) get to race along tracks. There are treasure-hunt races, and shooting battles.

For some, the best part are the Chao parts of the game. A chao is a little creature you raise from an egg. Depending on how you raise it, the creature can turn out good and loving, or dark and evil. You can then race your Chaos or let them karate-battle each other. It's your own little GameCube Black-and-White Creature!

Definitely a game with something for everyone, whether your gaming addiction tends towards racing, fighting, or creature-rearing!

5.0 out of 5 stars New levels,characters,etc., January 14, 2002
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
This is a great game. Why?First it has all the adventure from the Dreamcast game, but has alot more to offer. For instance, all the multiplayer characters are avaliable from the start. And you get tons more courses. You can race through(and snowboard)through cities, harbors, pyramids, and a final rush.Shoot through deserts and army bases. And go on treasure hunts in ancient ruins and in space. We still get to race carts too!And just for fun they added new characters too. And how can we forget those lovable chaos. Now you can expand your chao raising experiance by linking up to a game boy advance. So if your a sonic fan or new to the sonic world.Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is one of the best games out thier. And I don't expect this to be the last time we see Sonic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sonic Adventure 2 on Gamecube!, January 6, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is going to be a great game for Gamecube! It's the original Sonic Adventure 2 for Sega Dreamcast, but has brand new features! The game will have better detailed graphics and best of all new characters for multiplayer! In the first SA2 you were required to get medals for each character to unlock the new characters for multi-player, but now they're already playable from the start! Also with the addition of being able to link SA2: Battle to the Game Boy Advance game Sonic Advance, it will be even more fun to train your Chao! If you liked SA2 for Dreamcast, or just like Sonic the Hedgehog you will love this game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sonic the Hedgehog hits Nintendo, July 11, 2002
By
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
Who would have thought that after the long Sega Vs Nintendo feuds that Sonic the Hedgehog would finally grace the Nintendo format?
Mario, Luigi and Sonic sharing the same hardware. But does "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle" live up to the hype?

Firstly 12 playable Sonic characters are on this game. The makers of this game give you lots of sonic for all the year's they've deprived us of it. And they deliver it in story mode (1 player) and multi-player battles.

There are 2 sides that you can play on, 'Hero' or 'Dark'. One trying to save the world, the other trying to destroy it. This is an excellent feature as it gives you double the game time. And don't worry about wondering if they're the same levels just with different characters, each side has its own storyline and own levels. The Sonic team did not skimp on missions. Also when you finish both the 'Hero' and 'Dark' one last mission pops up in the middle of the two. An extra stage indeed.

The multiplayer in this game is good also. You can do 3 categories: Shooting, racing or treasure hunting. The racing levels are the best as it allows you to go through past levels Versing your friend while attacking each other. This is depending on how many rings you have, the more rings, the better the attacks. A multiplayer game you earn is that of Kart Racing. Just like Mario Kart except with Sonic characters.

But what you do when you've finished the game and there's no one to play in multi-player?
Well, The sonic team have added their own versions of Tamogotchi called 'Chao'. You feed them, nurture them, teach them and make them grow up to either be Evil Chao or Good chao. A lot of fun can be had and it passes the time very quickly as you can also make chao fight or race each other.

The sound in this game is not what I would have hoped for. It puts voices to all the characters and its not even in synch. One problem I also found with the voice overs is that the characters cut each other off.The music in the background is also tedious as its bad 80's rock with annoying repetitious choruses. This was the main con of the game.

The graphics are good, clear and precise although they could be more sharp. But you don't really notice the graphics when your running 500 miles per second down a bridge road.

The camera in this game definitely needs work as it has a habit of getting into very out of the way angles which its effect is killing you as you can not see where you're going. But it is tolerable.

The storyline itself is also divided into 3 sections. Shooting, Racing and Treasure hunting. The sonic/shadow (racing) levels are the best but only take up 30% of the entire game. The shooting levels are tolerable with Tails/Robotnik but are pretty much just button mashing. The hunting levels with Rouge/Knuckles aren't as bad as people make it out to be. I found all the emeralds pretty easy it just takes patience. Everytime you win a stage you get an emblem which adds to your tally, if you get all 180 emblems you get a level of the old sonic 2 game.

So overall, here's what the game offers.
Pros:
- 12 characters from the Sonic series on the Nintendo Gamecube
- Can play on the 'Hero' side or the 'Dark' side
- Chao (Like tamogotchi)
- Multiplayer
- Lots of Gameplay time

Cons:
- Music
- Lip synching
- Not enough sonic stages
- Camera angles

Overall its a good game where the good outweigh the bad. I suggest you rent it first and see if you like the gameplay. Especially if you've never played Sonic before. But this game is definitely for the Sonic fans out there.

It gets 4 out of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Game for GC Fans!, February 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
If I hadn't already played this on the Dreamcast, I would have thought it was made specifically for the GC. It's a very Nintendo type of game, with lots of great graphics sounds, and blazing speed. Still haven't played a game as fast as Sonic. This is the best Sonic game in the series and anyone who picks this up will not be disappointed. It's got everything you want in a game. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The All New Adventures of Tails the Canadian Fox, April 3, 2002
By
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
Actually, I will give it a 4.6. There are a few detractors to this game, namely the camera angles and the fact that the BGM is so darn loud during cut scenes...

Otherwise, I don't know what to say. The game is campy and hilariously so. I'm not saying it's like the "Plan Nine from Outer Space" of games. The levels are totally rad. The controls are great and easy. The game is challenging, yet it is never stupidly hard (except for the Final stage...and Final Chase which drove me nuts because it would have been easy except for those blue blob things!!). The chao are disgustingly adorable; I could watch them for hours (castinets!). All in all, more entertaining than a Golden Girls marathon (best show ever!).

Yet, it is still campy. The storyline is cheesy and like something you would see on MST3K (starring....JOE DON BAKER as DR. EGGMAN!) but that makes it all more loveable. Doesn't Eggman have a job or a life outside of persuing Sonic and pals? Poor bloke, no wonder why he's tripped his trolley.

The voices are funny, especially Tails. He sounds like Degrassi Jr. High reject (Tails: Soonic! Have you seen my Cyclune yet? It can rilly fly, eh?) and Rouge reminds me of Sami from Days of our Lives. Also, be sure to listen to the Japanese voices!

The funniest parts come in the lyrics to the Knuckles raps. "I know that it's here, I can sense it in my feet!"--- never has anyone rapped that passionately about a anthropomorphic red echidna. The "rock" songs are so cheesy and 80's, they should have been performed by Starship or Mr. Mister. Rouge's songs all sound like someone held Burt Bacharach up at gunpoint and forced him to compose video game music (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I love the two-player mode. My favorite character is there- Tikal! It only really, really bugs me that you can't compete against the CPU! Oh well. The "desktop" themes are cute, too.

While not perfect, I think you get a lot for your money. I have not played a Sonic game since Genesis and I always thought the cartoon(s) was(were) wonky. It's nice to see the Sonic Team crew again. All in all, this game is cooler than the Fonz and Orko, driving down the Autobahn in a Delorean with Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen in the backseat, blaring Kraftwerk out the window.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sonic's New Adventure, April 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Video Game)
Personally, I love Sonic games. Ever since we got Sonic 2 on the Sega Genesis, I couldn't get enough. I've played every Sonic game, and this one is a true addition to the series.
As soon as I learned of it's existence, I had to buy Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. And let me tell you, I wasn't dissapointed. The gameplay is absolutely excellent, with the varying techniques you have to use in Sonic/Shadow, Tails/Eggman, Knuckles/Rouge levels. Sonic/Shadow levels are fast-paced, exciting levels with amazing scenery and great music. Two of my favorites are City Escape and Green Forest. I like to turn the volume way up and jam to the rock music while zipping through incredible graphics. Tails/Eggman levels are slower and sometimes tough levels, especially if you haven't gotten various upgrades yet. Knuckles' levels are interesting, challenging search levels with some really laid-back music and go-at-your-own-pace speed. Rouge has some disco-style music, but some of the later levels for her get really, REALLY frustrating.
If the game is too short for you, remember you can choose to play both the hero story and dark story. Both are very fun, although the plot takes itself WAY to seriously and sometimes they didn't do a good job of adjusting the BGM volume level to be lower than the voice acting. But even if you run through both stories quickly, you can still spend hours with a friend on the multiplayer levels, which are suprisingly addicting.
And if Single and Multiplayer levels aren't enough to keep your attention, spend some time chillin' in the Chao Garden. You won't leave. The Chao are little Tamogatchi-style creatures that you hatch and raise with different attributes to later fight or race them. It seems weird but you end up spending more time raising these things than actually playing the rest of the game.
Either way, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a must have for any Sonic fan, and a must have for anyone else that just has a Game Cube.
