Probably one of the poorest guides ever written!, March 16, 2002
This review is from: Sonic Adventure: Official Strategy Guide (BradyGames) (Paperback)
This piece of work deserves less then 1 star!!!
I got this guide for Christmas, and if I had had the choice, I would have most definetly chosen the Prima guide over this one.
I am obsessed with maps and for me it was easy to tell how poor done these maps were. In fact, it claims to have a map for every level, but in fact, for Sonic's final level, it has only a small area of it, one of the rooms near the beginning of the level! The Prima guide had a map covering about 7 pages and had extensive coverage of each room.
The boss strategies were depressing; I defeated the bosses on my own because the strategy was of no help whatsoever.
In many levels, this guide included poor coverage and some of the maps were in depth and others were poorly constructed. Such as one level (sonic's ninth level) where it looks like the map editors couldn't be bothered to draw accurately and drew a square with five smaller sqares inside. The level I am reffering to looks completely different, and because of the poor maps I completed it in three times the time is should have taken me. This may not bother many people that could care less what the maps look like, but I love maps and spent hours looking at them.
The sequence of events in the guide was so terrible that I was unable to find certain upgrades. Also the Chao (BTW pronounced Kay-Oh) coverage was sad and failed to include anything important. Although it did include one thing on Chaos the Prima guide didn't, the Prima guide offered better coverage.

Usually the Bradygames Strategy Guides are well written and include tons of great information. Here is not the case. I got this guide when I got the game MANY years ago and I most of the time found myself playing without it. The maps are not that great but the strategies in the levels are OK. Between levels the guide says which field to go to, but it doesn't explain WHERE TO GO! I spent a month trying to figure out where the stones were. And the guide does not explain where the Adventure Field emblems are. The only reason why this guide gets anything is because it does help at some points. By now you can get the guide(s) by Prima because now Sonic DX is out. Skip this and get the Primagames.
