4.0 out of 5 stars Okay
This game is fun and all, but cannot put "game boy graphics to bed." Let's just say I wouldn't sell 3 game boy games for it, but it is fun. It should of been called Sonic and Knuckles because the game is kind of a version of Sonic and Knuckles. I think they made it Sonic Blast because any Sonic game that says "blast" in the title usually means they...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's an OK Sonic Game.
This game doesn't really have a story line to speak of, but...the graphics are AMAZING, especially for 8-bit! I just wish that the execution was better, like in "Triple Trouble". Sonic is rather slow compared to his previous entires, and thanks to the 3D-style graphics, not as much detail can be put in each level. In otherwards, the levels are much smaller than you...

It should of been called Sonic and Knuckles because the game is kind of a version of Sonic and Knuckles. I think they made it Sonic Blast because any Sonic game that says "blast" in the title usually means they tried to give it the best graphics possible. They did that, but game play isn't as good as other Sonic games. Mainly because sometimes you pass through a ring without collecting it. This is really annoying when running down a hill and then having to run back up it to collect rings you missed.Anyway, I'm going to shut up now and get to the point, it's fun, just don't pay 50 bucks for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not That Much of a Blast, July 1, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sonic Blast (Video Game)
Yeah, this game's good, I don't know why they had to name it 'Sonic Blast' when a Sonic game had the name of 'Sonic 3D Blast'. Of course, it's not that good. The graphics seem like a poor attempt at 3D, I don't know why they couldn't just stick to 2D. I also don't like how, when you jump, the camera moves with you, and it's pretty annoying, but you can't blame the game that much for it, because it was made for a small screen. Playing as Knuckles is also pretty fun, because he can glide and climb, and, basically, do things that Sonic could never do, which is fine by me, because I'm a bigger fan of Tails and Knuckles than I am of Sonic the Hedgehog. Gliding and climbing or just running around? Choose between the two and defeat Dr. Eggman!(for now)

5.0 out of 5 stars Blast Processing goes up for a 3D-ish look, March 21, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sonic Blast (Video Game)
The 16-Bit wars were somewhat over when this game came about. The Nintendo 64 and the Sega Saturn were already coming under way, and the Playstation already bashed into the competition. The 8-Bit handhelds, however, were still duking it out and not one was replaced yet.

Sonic Blast, given the mid-90s release, was trying to take advantage of pre-rendered 3D graphics, while also providing the same fast-paced 2D action that the series was known for best.

The game plays a lot like Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble. The improvements here are the double-jumping, the inclusion of Knuckles as a playable character, and entirely new level layouts, enemies, and bosses. Sonic Blast is exactly as fun as those games. The level designs are neat, the sounds are good, and the graphics are downright cool, considering the fact that this game is for an 8-Bit system.

There are also Special Stages, but they aren't really so great. They are easy and boring.

The game is also short, too, but I wouldn't actually care. Even short games are awesome, including DuckTales, Star Fox, and Super Mario Land, to name a few.

Sonic is rather slow compared to his previous entires, and thanks to the 3D-style graphics, not as much detail can be put in each level. In otherwards, the levels are much smaller than you would find in "Triple Trouble". On the plus side, Knuckles is a playable character for the first...and only time on the game gear. And his graphics look every bit as good as on "Sonic & Knuckles" for Genesis.

The later levels become a bit challenging, but overall, it's an OK Sonic Game.

It's great, the best game ever. You can play with sonic or knuckles. My favorite part is the 3D special stage. All new bosses.
