Info from a Sonic Fan, January 16, 2004
This review is from: Sonic Christmas Blast (DVD)
If you're looking for an AoStH DVD, the only thing you're going to find on here is "Sonic's Christmas Blast" the last episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AoStH), which is a mix of the immensely popular series Sonic the Hedgehog (Best known as SAT-AM by the fans) and AoStH. As far as Christmas episodes go, this one is high quality, but I'm a true-blue Sonic fan. As for the Sonic Underground episodes (Another Sonic universe entirely, about Sonic and his triplet brother and sister, Manic and Sonia), I have to disagree with the other reviewer. "Three Hedgehogs and A Baby" is one of most popular amoung Sonic Underground fans not only because it is a Manic-centered episode, but it is very heartwarming. Manic has to help take care of this drooling, cranky baby and we see his true colors. "Mummy Dearest" is worth it to see King Amonrappi and "The Price of Freedom" is also heartwarming is well. As for the three songs in the episodes, they are not the most popular, but they are still great if you're a Sonic Underground fan. Let me put it this way, if you're a fan, you've _gotta_ have this video. If you love the other Sonic cartoons, buy this one to help promote your favorite series. If you've never seen Sonic Underground, the best place to start is with their first DVD "Dr. Robotnik's Revenge" which has the first few episodes. If you want to take a leap in and want some quality cartoons, I give you a thumbs up. A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sonic Christmas Blast (DVD)
I'm a major Sonic fan so I take my blue hedgehog very seriously. But sometimes, like around Christmas, I want to watch a Sonic show that's just plain fun. Sonic's Christmas Blast is that in spades. Whether it's Sonic completing his tests of speed, rescuing Santa or knocking Scratch and Grounder senseless, you get to see Sonic's personality shine through with little or no excess baggage.
The best parts, though, were when Sonic was interacting with Sally or talking about her, not just because I'm a dedicated fan of the show Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAm) and Archie's Sonic comic, but they really were the most well written parts of the story.
The most common complaint about this episode, is that it's more based on the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AoStH) TV show than the SatAm show which may be a valid complaint. To me there are times when things just get a little bit too silly, like Sonic taking over Santa Claus' duties at the end. I mean, Sonic's in a never ending war against Robotnik. He doesn't have time to be delivering presents to all the kids in the world! Santa Claus' portrayal as a depressed old man didn't exactly thrill me either. But this still robs little from the pleasure of watching Sonic's sole holiday based adventure.
There are three other episodes on this disc, all from the extremely underrated and extremely entertaining Sonic Underground series:
1. Three Hedgehogs and a Baby
2. The Price of Freedom
3. Mummy's Dearest
All three are excellent episodes but Price of Freedom is the best. It has plenty of Sonic'tude and action, everyone is in character and it even has a moral message when Sonia's friend has to choose between her elegant life style and aiding the underground against Robotnik.
All in all, the Sonic's Christmas Blast DVD really is a blast! I'd highly recommend it to everyone except those who have not had a previous positive experience with Sonic.

"Christmas Blast" Alone is Worth Getting on DVD..., May 15, 2004
This review is from: Sonic Christmas Blast (DVD)
I don't know about the extra Sonic Underground episodes - as a long-time Sonic fan, I was pretty sickened by that whole series - but the Christmas Blast episode (which has NO correlation w/ Sonic Underground) is very awesome. It's kind of a combination of the past two Sonic animated series that ran in the early '90s... I'd buy this DVD even if this were the only thing on it - it's a classic Christmas special worth watching. :-)
