Biography

Bobby Gillespie founded Primal Scream in 1982, before becoming the drummer for seminal alt-rock band The Jesus And Mary Chain. He performed on their acclaimed debut Psychocandy (1986), before leaving to focus on Primal Scream again. It took a number of line-up and style changes, and a handful of unsuccesful singles, before the band got into full stride. Debut album Sonic Flower Groove (1987) was… Read more in Amazon's Primal Scream Store

AFTER THE CREATION MIASMA,BEFORE THE HEAVY DUB AND STONES POSTURINGS THERE WAS "SONIC FLOWER GROOVE". 4.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Primal Scream Album!, July 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sonic Flower Groove (Audio CD)
It's hard to believe that this is the same Primal Scream from the albums "Vanishing Point" and "Screamadelica". They sound a lot like early Stone Roses, which came around just about the same time as this. "Sonic Flower Groove" is excellent, every song is short, pretty, and gets to the point. The only problem (which is why this is only a 4 star album) is that this just is not their masterpiece..."Screamadelica" is. This is by far though, one of the best albums of pretty psychedelic pop songs I've ever heard. I particularly like the songs,"Gentle Tuesday","May The Sun Shine Bright For You","Imperial", and "Love You". These are my favorites, but buy this album now (because it is really difficult to find for this price) to discover all of your favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Primal Scream!, January 15, 2000

Trip Cannon "Howdy" (A long time away in a galaxy far ago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sonic Flower Groove (Audio CD)
There is just no-end to their talents. It's obvious because of this early release from the masters. It's typical brit-pop for the time. But it stands right up there with the Stone Roses and the other musical innovators of the time. The most amazing thing is listening to them now. They've come a long way baby. Primal Scream is one of the greatest bands that ever graced the scene. Scoop this rare gem up now!
