Amplifies significantly,

I wear two hearing. My son works at night so we must keep the television low as not to disturb him. My wife can hear the television at a low volume, however I have a problem picking up all the words and sounds. I purchased the Sonic Super Ear Sound Amplifier and it significantly increases the volume of the television. The only downside is that it is very sensitive to sound. You must keep the microphone very still or you will get loud scratching sounds that hurt the ears. What I do is set the sound volume then place the microphone next to me on the sofa and do not touch it unless I have to. The amplifier also picks of all the sounds around you. If there is a conversation in another room the amplifier picks it up and it could be a bit disturbing while I am watching television. It is also a bit harsh if someone is talking directly to you. That said, I think that it is a useful tool for anyone who wants to listen to television or radio without disturbing anyone. I guess if you are really hard of hearing the unit should help you hear conversations without a problem. I recommend the product to anyone whether you have a hearing problem or not.

I bought the Sonic Super Ear for my husband, who listens to the T.V. so loud that it gives me a headache and send the pets running! He said that he was able to hear every word of the movie we watched last night, and I had the movie at a volume set for me. The down side is that when I would talk to him, he'd wince and tell me 'not so loud'! It does amplify EVERYTHING. And then there are the wires to deal with....He said he thinks it's great, all in all we're happy to have it.

I bought this to watch TV at a volume that wouldn't disturb other people. Maybe I misread the ads but it does not work in this capacity. It amplifies whatever sound is in the room even breathing, but not the TV. I actually couldn't hear the TV unless I turned the sound up as high as usual. The headphones have a short cord and I couldn't move it closer to the TV to see if that actually helped and they are not comfortable. It has a lot of feedback at times too1 It was a complete waste of money. I live in a remote are of Alaska and it is too expensive to ship back so it is in the box in my closet. Advise people to read specs on another hearing amlifier.

My mother is 91 and has been steadily losing her hearing for a number of years. She is almost totally deaf in one ear and wears a $2500 dollar hearing aid in the other, which helps very little. We have to sit close and talk quite loud for her to hear. Last week I purchased this for her, just in case it might help.Well, it makes a big difference. When she is sitting at the dinner table with several people around, she is now able to hear most of what is being said without anyone having to raise their voice. She is very pleased and in feeling a lot less isolated than she did previously. Certainly worth the price!

Supersonic ear personal sound AmplifierThis apparatus performed as specified in the printed specs in the Amazon ad. Since I wear two hearing aids for my profound deafness, the 50dB addition to my hearing was inadequate for my needs. Nothing wrong with the supersonic, I'm just too deaf. L.T. Greene

My wife is an occupational therapist, and uses this device as an aid for communicating with her patients in the hospital who are hard of hearing. In a hospital setting, often patients who normally wear hearing aids are often not wearing their hearing aids while in the hospital. My wife takes this device with her as she is making her rounds in the hospital. When she uses it, she puts the headphones on the patient, and pretty much speaks directly into the device's microphone. She says that it works very well - that the patients can hear and understand her well, without her having to yell to them.I'm not hard of hearing at all, but when I tried using the device, I was AMAZED at how it amplified sounds. If someone 30 feet away turns the page in a book, it sounds like my ear is pressed against the book as the page is turned. It's sort of surreal. I can personally attest that it makes sounds MUCH louder.

This is a good tool for a great price, don't listen to people who say this is a piece of junk, just because they can't hear women's conversations dosen't make it the sellers problem,GET A LIFE.And this product does in fact help hear tv without disturbing others, and this device can make an excellent microphone attachment to a Camera or Binoculars. Also,if you have a DVR (digital voice recorder) you can record the sound you hear via AUX cable available at any electronic store.

Does amplify the sound so you don't annoy the neighbors watching t.v. late into the night. Of course it picks up other sounds as well which can be disturbing. Can't avoid that. But for the price, I am not complaining much.

I am a scorekeeper for hockey games and wisely sit behind a glass wall to avoid being hit by pucks and sticks.Unfortunately, the thick glass makes it difficult to hear the referees when they report goals or penalties. Since I couldn't chop a hole in the glass, I was looking for a simple, low cost way of hearing what the referees had to say. Wireless microphones were way too expensive and required the referee to wear equipment. I tried using a baby monitor, but it was too large and heavy, difficult to mount, picked up all ambient noise, and did not have a provision for headphones. I came across the Sonic Super Ear Personal Sound Amplifier and, combined with an audio extender cable, it does the job! PROs: 1. Small and compact 2. Built in, muffled, somewhat directional microphone. 3. Built in amplifier. 4. Headphone output jack 5. Volume control on amplifier unit 6. Headphones included 7. Screw-on clip for mounting on the edge of the glass CONs: 1. Relatively short cable does not allow for listening to sound sources that are not "line of sight". 2. Volume control is on the amplifier unit. It would be nice if it where on the headphones. What I would REALLY, REALLY like is a unit like this but with a provision for a wireless headset, and a a similarly modest price.

I bought this as a gift for my husband so he could hear the television better without turning it up and blasting everyone else out. Unfortunately, it picks up all the other noises in the house as well as the television and makes it too hard to listen to particular things. I'm sure there's a use for it for other applications.
