I've had a Sonicare for approx. 6 months and can say that it does a great job. I feel that this toothbrush does a much better job of cleaning your teeth and gums than traditional toothbrushes. Features: The Sonicare provides a timed, two-minute automatic shutoff. My experience: I've found this timer reinforces spending an adequate amount of time to get a thorough cleaning. My natural tendancy is to keep brushing until the auto-shutoff kicks off, rather than turning it off prematurely. This toothbrush slowly builds up it's speed during the first twelve uses, allowing the user to get comfortable with the sensation of vibration. My experience: The sensation of the toothbrush's vibration seemed strange for the first use or two, but I quickly felt comfortable with using it. I regularly take this toothbrush on the road, away from it's charger for up to a week at a time, without any reduction in it's usability or brushing speed. The charger base is well designed, not requiring the toothbrush to make a connection which may wear over time. Simply place the brush into the base, and the battery is charged via a wireless conneciton. One quick word of advice: If you purchase and begin using this product, you'll need to remember not to remove it from your mouth until after it has been shutoff. Once, while rushing to get to work, I forgot to follow this simple rule and ended up with 'brush spray' going everywhere!

Worth the money,

I've owned a Sonicare Sonic toothbrush for 2 years. It is worth the money because: 1 - my gums are truly stronger 2 - my teeth stay whiter 3 - (and most important) I don't have to hear the lecture about gum disease when I visit my dentist. This one product has greatly improved my dental exams. The batteries also allow me to take it on one week road trips without the charger.

My husband and I received one for Christmas last year and we love it. The toothbrush and toothbrushes are a little pricey but if you wait and look around, usually the warehouse stores will have 2 in a package for a great price. After using, your teeth and gums feel great. Even my dental checkups came out better. I would highly reccomend.c

Your dentist will notice if you use this!,

After I bought one of these and started using it, my dentist noticed how much better my teeth were and made a note on my record that I use a Sonicare. I used to have to go three to four times a year to have tartar removed and now I don't have to go as often. So this toothbrush paid for itself in less than a year. Plus it feels so wonderful after brushing. The charge holds plenty long, the timer is a nice feature to make sure you brush long enough. Buy enough replacement heads, because the brush works better if you replace the heads every few months. I actually look forward to brushing my teeth, and I certainly do it after drinking coffee. My teeth look a lot whiter.

Guess what? It has that 30-second timer!,

I can't imagine why anyone would want to get one of the other, more expensive Sonicare toothbrushes rather than this one. They're all the same, really; it's just a couple of little bells and whistles at the margin which account for the significant difference in price. The main one is the fact that while they all shut off automatically after two minutes, only the more expensive models beep every 30 seconds to tell you to move on to a new quadrant of your mouth. Or so you thought. Certainly that's what all the literature says, anyway. But I bought this -- and guess what, it beeps every 30 seconds, despite the fact that the instruction manual says that it doesn't! So don't worry about losing out, just get this one, you won't be disappointed.

Great toothbrush, but pricey when you come to think of it,

Lets keep this simple and sweet. For $70, this toothbrush does an outstanding job of getting your teeth clean, as well, if not better than a manual brush. I've had this brush now for about a year, and have noticed my teeth feel cleaner, and my 2 checkups did very well. I don't buy too much into the 'sonic' technology, but on those late days back from work when I don't have much energy to sit in front of the mirror and manually brush for 2 minutes, this electric brush does absolute wonders. The downside? First, this toothbrush does not have a feature to replace the ni-cad rechargable battery, and second the brushheads are expensive. ($10-$15 online for a single brushhead that is used for 6 months). I've noticed my brush doesn't hold that well of a charge after a year, and will probably end up using it for another 6 months before I have to purchase another. To sum it up, a nice way to get your teeth clean...if you have the $$$...if not I'm sure that $3 manual you've been using works fine as well.

Long time user,

I have been using the Sonicare toothbrush for 4-5 yers. I believe I started using it not long after it came out. My dentist went to a conference and got a sample. He started using it and used me as an early "guinea pig' patient to see what I thought. I have had several years of regular checkups (every 6 months) and have not had any problems. The effect of using the toothbursh, still after all these years, is that my teeth feel polished and you can tell how different your teeth feel compared ot brusing with a regular toothbrush. My dentist believes that the effect is probably not due to anything assoicated with use of sonic waves but rather with the rapidity of the brushstrokes and the fact that people tend to use it longer (2 minutes is the timed interval the toothbrush keeps track of). Since there is little personal energy involved in using it, you do tend to simply brush your teeth longer than you otherwise would. I therefore have come to agree with my dentist-a good part of the great effectiveness of this product is that you simply tend to brush your teeth considerably longer, and at much higher a rate of brush strokes, than you otherwise would. I would highly recommend trying this out. My regards to all.

A Good Product At A Great Price,

We have had this Sonicare Sonic Toothbrush set for almost a year now and are very happy with it. When my husband had his permanent upper bridge completed, our dentist recommended this unit for the duality of its keeping dentrifices and natural teeth in good health with its powerful, yet, gentle enough rotating bristle action. We appreciate the long time battery charge, comfortable grip, ease of use, and just the way it makes your mouth feel so good. My husband always reminds me to pack his "oral massage" when we travel. Laughing....if he had just used this before, he might not have HAD to get that permanent bridge! What a savings that would have been. I like cleaning my tongue with the tickling ends, (lightening the pressure by hand) keeping any halitosis in check. Note: if you brush your teeth frequently, (3-4 times per day), you may want to buy some extra brushes in advance, they do tend to wear quickly as they keep everything clean and almost plaque-free. Amazon.com has this at a great price.(we paid much more) In my opinion, a perfect practical gift of health anytime, possibly even for those teens headed off to college who might need a fun 'lil maternal reminder to--"keep brushing your teeth!"

Saved me money!,

Nearly 4 months ago, my dental hygienist gave me the bad news that I had early gum disease that wasn't responding to traditional care and I would have to come back every 2 weeks for special treatments at nearly $100 each. She anticipated it would take six treatments. I immediately bought a Sonicare to add to my usual flossing, rinsing routine. Two visits later, I was told that I'd made remarkable progress and could return in 8 weeks for a standard checkup. Not only did I save money but with the recent medical findings linking heart disease, strokes and gum disease, I think this is a great investment in my long term health.

Gift for yourself,

I bought this with a gift certificate my company gave me. I had been wanting an electric toothbrush for over a year. I just couldn't get myself to pay that much for it. My dentist recomended this one. I really wanted one that spinned. I got it out when it arrived and have loved it. (a plus with the free shipping) I have checked around and the 2 pack replacement heads are cheaper online than at a store. The first try doesn't hurt like the other reviews would have you think it just tickles. I want to use it all the time. I have a teenager and a two year old. I do not have a lot of time for myself. I will make the time because my teeth feel so clean when I am finished. I did have them cleaned the day this arrived. Also I chose the cheapest shipping method (free with housewares purchase) and it arrived in about 2 days all my items together. If you have been thinking about one look at all the reviews this is the only brush that consistantly gets a 5 star.
