Our Intestinal Cleanser is a finely ground powder of imported psyllium husk and seed. As it contains primarily fiber and no laxative or herbal stimulants, it can be used on a daily basis to assist normal bowel peristalsis. (In contrast, laxatives and herbal preparations stimulate the peristaltic muscles of the bowel, and, if used regularly create a "dependency" and weaken normal colon function.) Psyllium has a hydrophilic (water-loving) action that softens hardened mucous lining the bowel wall, facilitating its elimination. Psyllium can help achieve a high fiber diet, which is so important in maintaining good bowel health, and is now recognized as important to help maintain a healthy cholesterol level already in the normal range. Dietary fiber is a necessary component of the diet that is glaringly lacking in the typical western diet. Lack of dietary fiber can cause constipation, elevated cholesterol levels, and has been linked to increased incidence of certain cancers. Psyllium is a rich source of soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Taking psyllium on a daily basis can supplement the diet with high quality fiber, and ensure at least one normal bowel movement every day. The psyllium we use is derived from a small plant that is grown in Pakistan and India, Plantago ovato blond. Anyone who suffers from irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, that yucky bloated feeling, etc., can benefit from using this product - All I can say is when I find a product that really works (becuase most of them don't) I tell everyone - I do modify the directions a little. I mix a heaping tablespoon of the Sonne into a very small amount of grapefruit juice (the only juice that really mixes well) in a small shaker - shake like crazy for 2 seconds and drink as fast as you can (otherwise it turns to cement) then I drink the 8 oz. of water - works like a charm for me. No gas, no accidents, nothing but normal living. It's great
