Worth having, but I wish they weren't so greedy,

This review is from: Sonos CC100 Charging Cradle for Sonos CR100 Controller (Electronics)
All this does is hold the Sonos controller you already have and feed it electricity from the Sonos charger you already have. It's "worth" the price for the convenience, because not having one is inconvenient (more on that below), but there's no way that this convenience should have a $50 price tag. It's a classic case of charging your customers what they're willing to pay, not what something cost to produce, which is good business but just smacks of greediness when the rest of the Sonos system is so high class.
I thought I'd just get by without the charging cradle, but: - the socket on the controller where you have to plug in the charging wire is hidden behind a little flap of rubber which is finicky about opening; it's more work to charge the Sonos controller, without the cradle, than any other rechargeable thingy I have (iPod, cell phone, etc). So, the cradle is more necessary for the Sonos than these other devices, in my opinion. - if you leave the controller unplugged from the charger for too long (not sure exactly how long, more than a few hours, less than a day) then it goes into a low-power standby mode to save the battery, and it takes a long time to wake up from standby. So the upshot is if you have the cradle, the controller behaves beautifully -- set it in the cradle when you're not using it, and it's always charged and instantly ready for use. If you don't have the cradle, you're stuck carefully prying the rubber port cover out of the way and plugging in the charger, and if you're ever too lazy to do this, you'll have to wait for the controller to wake up the next time you use it. The cradle saves me 30 seconds multiple times a day, so it's worth it, but I'm still annoyed I had to expend this much money and analysis over something so simple.

Overpriced, but you can't get it anywhere else,

This charging cradle works as it should for the Sonos Controller, but it is very overpriced, considering that all you get are two pieces of plastic. An adapter is not even included, as you use the adapter that came with the controller. A functional product, but worth perhaps 1/10 of the price. Good news is that it comes for free with the ZP80 bundle here on Amazon and for free with both ZP80 and ZP100 bundles direct from Sonos.

Because this cradle does not include the power supply, it is even more expensive than it first appears. This is an attractive piece of plastic without power. You'll need to buy the power supply to keep your controller charged while it rests in the cradle.
Here is the power supply: Sonos AC100 Charging Adapter for Sonos CR100 Controller Unfortunately, there aren't any aftermarket alternatives, so the price gouging continues. Sean P. Logue, 2008

Very nice Sonos controller charging Dock!,

These are very nice to have if you have the original sonos handheld wireless controller the CR100. It will allow you to pick it up and play with it and set it back down and it will start charging the battery automatically when replaced in the dock. You can add several of the charging docks around the house and take your controller with you from room to room and just drop it in one of the docks for display or to recharge the controllers internal battery.
It has nice rubber grips on the bottom of the dock so if you are using it to sit on a desk or nightstand it will stay in place and not slip easily. It also comes with a snap on base that will allow you to screw the dock directly to a wall if you are looking to have a permanent wall mounted controller. The only problem I can see is it come with the dock only and not the required ac adapter. If you need that you can find it on amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Sonos-AC100-Charging-Adapter-Controller/dp/B000F8LLO6/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2

This cradle is a great way to display your remotes while they are charging. I have owned two for 4+ years and they are still in great working condition.

Should be part of every bundle (for free),

The cradle itself works good, looks good, easy to install. Because of the limited operating time of the Sonos controller on batteries, every Sonos system should have one, standard. $ 39,99 is a bit expensive for a plastice bracket with two contacs, it is still indispensable. It should be included in every bundle, for about $ 10,00

If you're buying this as a secondary cradle (and I'm not sure why else you would buy this) its totally non-functional because you also need an AC Adapter.
Yes, I know its shown in the picture. However if you read the description carefully it mentions that its not included.

As long as you have the sonos player you really must have this convenient and necessary addition.
