Delightful Book...,
This review is from: Sonrise Stable (Paperback)
Rosie and Scamper will delight experienced "horsegirls" and dreamy eyed wanna-be's alike. In addition to the good story, you will benefit from the realistic portrayal of taking care of and riding horses. Though it is clear that Rosie and her friends have endless fun riding, there is no young girl jumping on a "wild" stallion and riding into the sunset here.
The book covers three years in the life of Rosie. Through her relationship with her Grandma, family, and friends, she learns lessons about God and how He wants us to act. But even though these important lessons are covered thoroughly, never once is this book dry or boring. Rosie, Grandma, and their good friend and neighbor, Carrie, have fun and exciting experiences, almost always involving horses. Grandma's stories about her childhood are funny and relevant. Some of the important lessons learned are about dealing with fear, peer pressure, and a beautiful way to better understand what Christ did for us on the cross. I would recommend this book to any horse lover, young or old!

God, Horses, and Homeschoolers!,
By homeschool mom (FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sonrise Stable (Paperback)
I just finished reading "Rosie and Scamper" aloud to my 7 and 10 year old daughters and we all thoroughly enjoyed the book. We read a chapter each night and they did not want me to stop. It's refreshing to read a book with young people as the main characters, that are respectful to their elders and willing to learn from them. That's pretty rare in children's fiction these days.
We don't have our own horses yet, but ride occasionally at a nearby stable. The details about the horses were so accurate. Some of the scenes in the book, especially the trail ride, made it seem like we were there right along with Rosie enjoying the ride and the scenery. There's also a strong Christian message running throughout the book, fun horse facts at the end, and Rosie is a homeschooler!

A Pleasure to Read!,
By Angela May "Angie" (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sonrise Stable (Paperback)
I enjoyed reading about Rosie and Scamper and the wonderful horses in this book. The Sonrise Stable is a warm, inviting place that welcomes the reader... You can hear the crunching leaves under the hooves of the horses along the trail. Any horse lover will feel that this is the place of dreams come true! If I was in this situation as a child, I would have thought that I was in heaven, and such will be the case with other horse-crazy young readers.
I also enjoyed learning some interesting horse facts at the end of the book. It must be mentioned that the Word of God is powerful, and the Gospel is woven into this story. It's always good for any reader, young or old, to be reminded of the love of the Lord!

Wholesome, horse-some book...,
This review is from: Sonrise Stable (Paperback)
Rosie and Scamper is a breath of fresh air to this mom with horse-crazy daughters who consume books (especially books about horses) faster than I can provide them. The storyline draws the reader in and keeps them hooked to the end. It is chocked full of positive messages about family, friendship and most importantly how our awesome God weaves all the events of our lives together for good. This family-friendly, faith-building book is a welcome addition to our home library.
Here's a review from my 10 year old daughter: I have read Rosie and Scamper. It's a really good book. It you are thinking about reading it, go right ahead and read it1 It is about two girls, Rosie and Carrie, who both love horses. It is a great Christian book. Read it. |
