5.0 out of 5 stars Sons Of The Beaches, September 2, 2000
This review is from: Sons of the Beaches (Audio CD)
This is a great C.D., I remember when it came out the first time on vinyl. I have seen this band twice and they are definitely worth seeing and listening to live in concert. Now, if only Epic Records or some other record company would release everything else they did in the seventies.(Epic Records did a double album of their greatest hits ,they did in the seventies. That's what I am wanting the most. There is a instrumental they did called,"Pipeline".No other band could do better with that song.Flash Cadillac And The Continental Kids, is a great band!

5.0 out of 5 stars Catch a Wave, July 20, 2003

If I'm allowed to keep only one album or disc, this is it. If you were 18 in 75 and you loved cruisin and great california sound music, nothin was better. I actually got this album by mistake from columbia house and fell in love with it. Their best stuff is their originals. Listen and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic!, August 18, 2000

I'd never heard of Flash Cadillac before "American Graffiti". But on the strength of their performance in the movie I ordered this album through an import record shop (I still have it, although it's a bit worn these days!)

The classic harmonies and neat guitars and (backing sax) on such tracks as "Time Will Tell" "You Sat Right There" "I Wish Youd Dance" & "Good Times, Rock & Roll" are almost instantly ingrained from the first listen.

With the addition of bonus tracks "Did You Boogie(With your Baby)" and "See My Baby Jive". A classic album of Rock & Roll as performed in the '70's. My only question, why has it taken so long to get this onto CD?

If you like it why not have a listen to the Australian band from the same era, Ol'55.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buried Treasure Here, X marks the spot!, May 12, 2006

Everyone knows there are little treasures out there, that are just out of sight, maybe a metal detector or a gold pan can find them. This album will be a sure treasure for anyone who gets it. I remember my kid sister playing this annoying 45 - Did You Boogie - until the needle had no groove to follow, so now she'll get a copy 30 years later for her birthday. Of course I had to listen to it before she gets her present, and the present is all mine. This album is all the best early sixties rock styles, beautifully perfomed, surf, blues, pre-Mersey sound, and Chuck B and Little Richard, all thrown on one record with excellent sound quality. Surely in a just, very close and parallel universe, Flash is a godlike legend whilst the Beatles and Beach Boys are mere -one- hit wonders.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Beach Boys Album Ever -- Oops, No Beach Boys!, August 9, 2000

Flash and the boys got it right back in '75 with this collection. No weak links or filler here, just tight harmonies, catchy pop hooks, teen boy surf attitudes, and Wolfman Jack.

This has been one of my favorite albums since its first release (I still have the LP), and I know and love every song by heart. From making out in the "back row of the movie show," to extolling the virtues of "Hot Summer Girls," to sweetly harmonizing about summer nights and first loves, Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids have earned their place in the pop pantheon with the best Beach Boys album the Beach Boys never made.

5.0 out of 5 stars It could never equal them live, but it's the best we have now, February 5, 2007
This review is from: Sons of the Beaches (Audio CD)
I had the great pleasure of seeing the original Flash and the Kids (the artists on this cd) live many times during the 70s. They were an absolutely amazing band live (Sam McFadin ... the original and only Flash Cadillac ... had one of the best live voices in rock n roll). Sadly, all we have of them now are their recordings, but they were definitely at top form in this one.
