4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing!
Based on the prologue and about 40 pages I read on the author's website, since the "Search Inside" feature is not active here yet, I bought this book on impulse because of its fascinating concept. At first glance, not exactly my kind of story, but after reading and learning about the Sons of God, as it relates to Biblical accounts, I became fascinated by the whole idea...

2.0 out of 5 stars Confusing
I am disappointed because I expected a better book. A little hard to follow and down right confusing at times. I thought the concept was very interesting but the book did not hold my attention.

Based on the prologue and about 40 pages I read on the author's website, since the "Search Inside" feature is not active here yet, I bought this book on impulse because of its fascinating concept. At first glance, not exactly my kind of story, but after reading and learning about the Sons of God, as it relates to Biblical accounts, I became fascinated by the whole idea.

The author seems to have done a nice job researching and weaving a hybrid tapestry of allegory and true historical events, and it all comes across as very believable and even makes you wonder if this inventive world, populated with archetype characters, and the supernatural events they experience, had actually occurred thousands of years ago.

As far as I can tell, this novel does what all successful novels do. To whisk away its readers to another place, another time, and to tell a fascinating and imaginative tale we can get lost in. And for this reader, although this sometimes familiar story borders on fantasy, it feels much more like reality.

Congratulations on your novel, Rebecca. I'm sure I'll enjoy the rest of this book. I can't wait to find it in my mailbox.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, Mystery, and Fact collide in Sons of God....., February 14, 2009
This review is from: Sons of God (Hardcover)
Sons of God is a great read from cover to cover, filled with adventure... mystery... archaeological/religious facts... and romance. The mystery of Nephelim which are half angel/half human creatures unfolds in this tale of one nephelim's search for reconciliation with her creator... In the book there are references crossing religions and time periods which make for an intriguing read. I highly recommend this novel/research if you have any interest in Nephelim or creatures of myth.

A friend sent me this book, and I had no idea what it was or what it would be about. That said, I *loved* this book. It is one of those books you read in two days and can't put down except when your employer is watching you... It's historical fiction, woven with deep spiritual themes that tie together archaeology and rarely-mentioned-in-churches Biblical creatures that have just been waiting for someone like Rebecca to come along - to lift mysteries hinted at about immortal creatures from obscurity to a place of comparative research and inspired imagination. The characters inspired me, the story line rivetted me, and Rebecca's imagination reminded me of how good fiction can be. I seriously can't wait to read Rebecca's next book... although I am now a bit worried about the archaelogy dig I'm about to go on in the middle east (readers will understand!) :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Read, September 25, 2008
This review is from: Sons of God (Hardcover)
Sons of God is an exciting read full of mystery, ancient texts from various cultures, and adventure. It contains supernatural/paranormal intrigue as the writer reveals fascinating archeological research concerning the Nephelim beings. I enjoyed embarking on this great quest with the characters as the story unfolded. It was as if you could step into the story and experience it with the characters. I could literally feel the emotion of the characters as I read.

5.0 out of 5 stars From one Neph to another, April 20, 2009

Rebecca's work is scholarly in its approach to high drama and worthy of all her 5-star reviews. The point I always ask my readers is, "Did you get your money's worth?" Did the work provide the reader with hours of quality entertainment? In the case of Sons of God, I got MORE than the purchase price in return. Thank you! How good is this? The book is not only a roudy adventure through time and space, it's educational and thought provoking. A female Neph? Intriguing concept. The visuals without pictures, written so skillfully, are still in my mind. My hope and sincere regard towards Rebecca is that Sons of God sells like hot cakes in an Alaskan town in winter. This is one sexy piece of literature which I'm proud to host in my collection. Dear reader, take your mouse and add Sons of God to your cart...now.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great story that sucks you from the very first word., August 17, 2010

This review is from: Sons of God (Hardcover)
I, personally, was raised in a very Christian household and I thought that I knew almost everything that there was to know about Christianity, but nephilim are something that I was completely unaware of until now. This story is about a nephilim, the children of angels and humans, that has lived for thousands of years. Her evil mother, Lilith, is out to get her. And she is starting to fall for a man that is human.

I think that all people, Christian or not, should read this book because it is one of those books that are just really cool all the way around. I hope that you buy this book and that you enjoy it just much as I did. It really is a treasure that I think everybody should add to their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The novel I've been waiting for!, November 11, 2009

I have had an interest in religion, mythology and ancient civilizations for a long time. There are many stories throughout the world regarding gods and humans interacting, and although there are many nonfiction books on the subject I haven't seen a novel that deals with this issue. It's finally here and it's great! One thing I love about it is the 30+ pages of notes and sources in the back. As for the story, I agree with the previous reviewer that it is "not only a roudy adventure through time and space, [but] it's educational and thought provoking." There is also a preview of the next book at the end, and I won't give it away, but a topic arises that I have been waiting forever for someone to address! I cannot wait for Ms. Kurtz's next book! Great stuff!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Adventure Ride, March 30, 2009
By
MasterAP (Maryland, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sons of God (Hardcover)
Based on her own research and experiences, Rebecca Kurtz has created an engaging novel that rivals Dan Brown and the Indiana Jones films.

Sons of God is a adventure novel that deals with the mysterious Nephelim of the Bible.

What if the descendants of the Nephelim were among us today? What if the gods of the ancient civilizations were actual creatures, children of the Nephelim?

Our stories of vampires, Thor, Goliath and others - all Nephelim.

This book, while fiction, gives you a look into uncharted areas Christians wouldn't think twice about.

Sons of God is a fun, engaging story that creates of tapestry of Ancient history including Scripture.

If you like Indiana Jones, The Mummy and the Tomb Raider movies, you may enjoy picking this book up at your library.

5.0 out of 5 stars I read this Cover to Cover - and I don't do that very often!, March 28, 2009
This review is from: Sons of God (Hardcover)
I start a lot of books and finish very few, but this was FASCINATING! I read the book all the way through. I love the snippets of research from ancient texts that are inserted in between all of the chapters. The story also compels the reader and I think that the fiction actually contains some interesting ideas that may just be true!!!!
