This is an excellent book about the founding of the Japanese emperors and their successors. Being a "closet monarchist", I rrally enjoyed reading about the little known japanese emperors. This is no dull historical book, but one filled with facts such as the fact that for centuries up until the time of Hirohitos grandfather, the monarchs were all puppets, allowed to reign for a set period of time until forced to retire by the (actual) ruling shoguns. An ecellent read!
